It's going to be a car crash television and does nothing but cheapen our great football club.

    I shan't be watching.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

This documentary is going to be full on propaganda, except they won't try and hide how obvious it is.

The only way is Anfield: ITV bidding for access-all-areas Liverpool FC reality show

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner said: “I expect it will be compelling programming as Liverpool will provide unprecedented access.”

Liverpool FC is opening the doors of the dressing room and even the boardroom to television cameras.

ITV is in talks to buy the rights to the reality show, which is thought to feature Anfield stars, including captain Steven Gerrard and striker Andy Carroll.

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner said: “I expect it will be compelling programming as Liverpool will provide unprecedented access.”

Filming of six-part documentary Our Liverpool: Never Walk Alone began at the end of last season when the players were preparing to face Chelsea in the FA Cup Final.

The programme, being produced by US channel Fox, captures a period of change in which Kenny Dalglish was axed as manager and replacement Brendan Rodgers took the reigns.

Mr Werner said: “This will be an amazing opportunity for our fans to see a new side of the club and for us to reach out to potential supporters worldwide who will come to understand what makes Liverpool FC so special.”

Reality shows featuring Peter Andre and Katie Price as well as The Only Way Is Essex have aired on ITV2 but the Liverpool show would get a primetime ITV1 slot. It is hoped it will be the first of many series. A TV source said: “TOWIE is popular with female viewers but this could be a reality show for men.”

Liverpool FC managing director Ian Ayre said: “This project creates a fantastic opportunity to allow people across the world to have a glimpse of the inner workings of the club, following the lives of our staff, our players and our fans, all of whom make up everything that is Liverpool Football Club.”

Channel 4 reality show Desperate Scousewives was set in Liverpool but did not feature the city’s footballers.

One previous effort to go inside a football club was Premier Passions, broadcast on BBC1 in 1998.

It chronicled Sunderland AFC during the 1996-97 season, when the club was relegated from the Premiership and included foul-mouthed team talks by manager Peter Reid.

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner didn't by any chance say: “I expect it will be compelling programming as Liverpool will provide unprecedented access” did he?

I can't wait for it. If it is as good as HARD KNOCKS, I'll be pleased. It is great to be able to be behind the scenes... I love these type of shows, especially the warts and all.

Wish they would show Hard Knocks in the UK - Miami Dolphins are on it this year and I have followed them since 1983.
