    Care to mention some names?

8 of those are Suarez. That'd be over 20 goals this season had they all gone in.

I agree with those suggesting Gerrard should play on the right next season.

From my memories we've got the best out of Gerrard when he played behind Torres and before that when he played on the right and all the media were ripping into Rafa for not playing him central but he scored over 20 goals and I don't know how many assists.

For me the centre positions should be between Lucas, Henderson & Shelvey and hopefully we'll get a quality signing in this area as well.

Carroll and Suarez up front, anyone but Downing on the left (Bellamy/Maxi? plus a top class signing).

I think defense is sorted - Johnson on the right, Kelly as back up. Agger and Skrtel are first choice in the centre with Coates and Carra as backup and Enrique on the left.

Johnson can play left and Kelly right if Enrique is injured or suspended. I'm not 100% sure about Robinson, he's still too young and inexperienced to be second choice left back I think. I wouldn't say know to a top class signing in that area.

We need to be realistic about summer signing expectations. I'd prefer 2 or 3 undisputed top class signings that will walk into the first team and for current players and the academy to provide backup.

I'd take a hit on selling Downing but the rest of last seasons signings I'd keep.

Also Downing could have had 5 PL goals, perhaps if he had scored those people might have a different view of him, or at the very least it would have been one less stick to beat him with.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I don't really see the point of this, hitting the post is **** finishing. It doesn't really count for anything and I for one don't see it as unlucky.

He could have, but he doesn't. Even if he had chipped in with a few goals I'd still think he's ****, because to be frank he is. And a couple of goals wouldn't change that. It was so obvious he was going to miss the penalty yesterday and I'm sick of seeing him in the starting line up. He's horrible.

Really interesting post! Your bound to hit the woodwork obviously a few times a season but none the less your conclusion is probably accurate in that we would still be in with a realistic chance of champions league

There's a certain element of bad luck, but a larger part of ultimately just not being good enough.

Sadly, I texted my mate exactly the same when he stepped up for the pen. Always threatening to nearly not be 100% **** but never quite there.
                      3rd place. Worst champions ever.
