HahaOriginally posted by IJM View PostYou know. The word "unveiled" always produces some strange imagery. I just imagine the press conference in which the figure in question has a sheet draped over the top of him to then be literally "unveiled."
Well you know the Americans like to put on a show so you never know.

It's because we're all geared up to expect failure with an unknown quantity.Originally posted by malg View PostMaybe I don't have the footballing brain that most have on here, and I might just work on my head alone, but I just don't get this confidence in Rodgers. I hope I'm so wrong I yearn a manager who will be with us for 20 years and win trophies, and yes Rodgers could be that man. But my head says he will fail and quickly. He defiantly is NOT a Hodgson type manager and that is a massive positive, but I feel he is also not a Rafa either. Good luck Rodgers and I hope I'm so wrong in my initial opinion of your appointment.

He will fail if he is not given enough time to implement his style on the club, i think people are positive because of the way Swansea played under him, whilst winning matters most, it does count for something. Hopefully if things are successful in the future players will want to play for LFC because of the way we play as well as our history.Originally posted by malg View PostMaybe I don't have the footballing brain that most have on here, and I might just work on my head alone, but I just don't get this confidence in Rodgers. He isn't a managerial appointment that had the reputation Rafa had when he joined however i think there is only a couple of coaches in the world that have that big a rep. and none of them were realistic except maybe LVG.
He is not Rafa and he does not approach games in the same way, yes they share great attention to detail, but Rafa is a manager who is great at nullifying the opponents threat and changes tact in order to do this. Rodgers is a coach who always sticks to his philosophy and has 100% faith that if they play his way they will control the game and win the majority of the time.
I'm not saying one style is better but they are different imo.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

Have you taken the time to read some of the many articles that have been posted on him over the last few days, both of him as person and in regards his footballing philosophies? I very much got the feel of Rafa about him after that, with his attention to minute detail, the way he has taken the time to study the methodologies of other clubs and managers etc.
I can completely understand people not thinking he is the right/best choice, but as I've said previously there seems to be a lot of positive things about the guy, and I think people are picking up on that and buzzing off it a little.
must admit he was probably last on my list behind even martinez, but having read lots of articles, I feel genuinely excited for next season.
Of course there are genuine worries whether he can step up, but i find that less worrying than going into next season with Kenny worrying that Downing and Carragher were going to play a significant part of the season.
Also with Brendan's footballing philosophies, I am hoping that some of the youngsters start to make a breakthrough this season to._____________________________________
