Capello hardly fits the profile of the "young and ambitious" manager.

            Capello is FSG's advisor.

There is no chance of Guardiola. he will be back at Barca in 12 months time after taking a year out.

Maybe they've decided to break the bank after all.

Why would they even waste time on Guardiola, all i hear about him is that he's a man of his word, absolutely, so i just don't see him walking into the managers job here after leaving Barca saying he wants a break from football. Bollocks.

My issue with Martinez is that he has no credentials whatsoever except saving Wigan from relegation if you consider that worthy of a praise.

In the past managers would need to have some extremly strong accomplishments and still may not be good enough for LFC and I am worried that our standards may be so low these days especially as the CL winning manager is available, willing and more than capable of taking over where he left off.

Martinez may be young and upcoming manager but for me he has not been managing at the high level and long enough to be considered for the job of this size nor I think he is ready yet.
Eh? Since when have our managers had to have extremely strong accomplishments and track records. Shanks hadn't achieved much at Huddersfield. Paisley, Fagan and Kenny came from within (as did Evans), Souness had only managed in Scotland (albeit with success) and GED had just been bombed out of the France job. And then there is Roy. You could make the argument that before we brought Kenny back only Rafa had ever really achieved real, tangible success.

So if anything Martinez has more managerial experience than 50% of our managers since the 60s and the one that had more experience (35 years more) was the Bodge.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Then why did they finish below us if they were so great and we were so poor? I've watched Swansea plenty, impressive when its working but also casual and complacent.

Why should Martinez take credit for Swansea this season and not Rodgers? He's had long enough to put his stamp on the side. If Martinez comes in is it Kenny that takes the plaudits if he does well? "layed the foundations" true, but made it flourish, took it a further level and outplayed the majority of sides that was Rodgers.

For US to aspire to be Swansea to me is ****ing pathetic, we can admire the way they go about it but they should be looking up to us ffs

A phone call cant hurt. Rather they tried and got told to get lost than not even bother attempting.

I've been reading through the various different threads and what people post on Twitter.

Firstly I'd like to discuss Martinez. The general vibe is that bar a few, no one really wants him. This is perfectly understandable after the disaster that was Hodgson but to compare them both is a bit strange.

Martinez is a very likable fella, Wigan play some good football but they're never going to be a team that wins things but everyone deserves a chance to better themselves so why shouldn't he? He seems a very positive character who is well spoken, calm and good with the media also. The complete opposite of Hodgson then.

People are also going on about him being linked simply because he's had a good end to the season. We need to remember he has been in the PL for a good few years now, a lot more than the likes of Rodgers, Coyle and Lambert.

It is a bit unfair imo to criticise him before he's been given a chance to be interviewed or impress. I have been wrong before though, I was quick to support Hodgson when things weren't going well and he was a terrible manager for us.

I don't however see Martinez being a failure like Hodgson I just don't but I can see why people are upset and frustrated with him being linked. He's not my first choice and we should be aiming higher but he may be the one we end up turning to.

                              Finally - Benitez.

I'm torn on Rafa. I loved him when he was here but I can't help thinking that we'd be going back for someone like we did with Kenny and that may be a mistake.

His record as a manager is brilliant and we all know what a master tactician and student of the game he is. He adores this club too so it would make sense but he divided the fan base massively when he was here and I can see it happening again.

People forget that although we were very good defensively under Rafa most were having a pop at how negative we were as a team under his reign, people need to remember that but then again he had limited resources and a terrible backing and IF he was to come in this time then he'd have much better support off the board.

Out of the both it would undoubtedly have to be Rafa for me but at the same time if it was Martinez we went for he would have to have our support.
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."
