Pepe has that rate with a single team that happens to be one of the strongest teams to have ever played football. AVB at Chelsea had the worst win percentage for something like 40 years so basically he was just battering weak opposition in Portugal and Martinez's career has been with the ****tiest teams in the PL. Di Matteo appearing in the list is nonsense given he has been a manager for about 5 minutes. I could go on...

This hasn't been discussed without people thinking he'll walk the interview, whereas another manager might present a plan more favourable to FSG?

Cannot fault his record at Porto and at Chelsea he had the unenviable task of overhauling a team who needs it's entire spine ripping out and replacing. If given the time and resources I have no doubt that he would've turned Chelsea around but very often that involves taking some time away from challenging.

A team where the captain decides that he's taking a certain penalty in a European cup semi-final - how the hell is a manager to compete with that? He drops the players, is torn to pieces and sacked. That's pathetic on their part and no matter who that manager was - it needed doing. That's why Mourinho won't go back there because he'd have to dismantle the squad he helped assemble and with FFP around the corner it's a very difficult task when you can't just spunk money up the wall again.

The difference is that he knows what he is dealing with there. I think it is an admirable choice (and probably the right one) to see that project through to the end. At Swansea he will get a chance to make mistakes and learn from them in a way he wouldn't with us. At the stage of his career he is at he is making the right choice if he is confident in his own ability.

In 3-4 years, Brendan Rodgers could be a top, top manager. Absolutely nothing wrong with a manager wanting to stay at a certain level to hone his skills.
