If there's a manager that thinks he's got no chance amongst 11 other candidates then he's better off pussying out now cos he won't be able to handle the pressure of the actual job.

I read that zonal marking article yesterday and it improved my perceptions of Martinez massively but at the end of the day Champions league revenues are about to double from next season,not being in it is going to be a massive impairment for this club to improve.

Now is not the time to try out inexperienced mangers at the top level.we need proven quality and we need it now.

So how are 'lesser' mangers supposed to break into 'bigger' clubs..?

I'm inclined to agree but at the same time wonder about the availability and suitability of any really top class options. Past performance is no guarantee of future success and there are several examples of less heralded coaches doing well recently (Frank de Boer and Pardew are the ones that spring to mind). Whoever we get is likely to represent a big risk at least in the short term.

They break into clubs like Dortmund,Valencia,Porto etc and then get their shot at the elite,of which we still are in terms of club size and Stature but not sadly in current performance.

And what proven managers would come here apart from Rafa ? Capello and Van Gaal are both over 60 and wouldn't fit FSG's model. Klopp and Pep aren't happening I'm afraid. Lowe ?
Rafa's personality wouldn't work with a DOF so that leaves us with the likes of AVB, Laudrup and Martinez who would all be huge gambles.

Let's face it anyone except Rafa would be a huge gamble. Every potential candidate has strengths and weaknesses. I'm leaning towards Martinez and Laudrup today.

Pardew is a decent manager and had a very good season but he's been decidedly average every else.

If it wasn't for Graham Carr's eye for a player Newcastle would've had the kind of season everyone expected them to.

Frank De boer is a manager who has won his league and qualified for the Champions league.Him and the likes of Klopp and AVB are the type I hope we go for,rather than the elder statesmen like Van Gaal and Capello.

Everyone is a risk for sure,but some are less of a risk then others.

For those who don't want Martinez (and I include myself in that), surely the same reasons levelled at him would rule Laudrup out?

Yes, it's speculation, but we can't be excited by Laudrup just because he was a quality player. For me, he's in 'no thanks' pile.

I'm not to sure about Laudrup. Great player, but limited managerial experience. Also, it seems he doesn't like DOF's

Laudrup resigned from his job, following the firing of his assistant, Erik Larsen. Laudrup cited that great frustration with Lorenzo Serra Ferrer, the club's Director of Football, leading to a bad work climate as the main reason for his resignation

Dortmund are German Champions, they may not have Bayern's history but i'd class them as elite.

For me it's not whether a man has experience or not (Owl Face), it's whether they have the personality and ethos to manage us.
