On the Contrary I doubt he'd be holding a conference to announce he is leaving. Tuesday will be an interesting day but if we don't hear anything from Liverpool before Wigan's press conference then I'd put money on Martinez staying put. You'd expect Liverpool to be the first to unveil Martinez as our manager not the other way round. The fact that the Echo and Barrett for example have consistently said that we intend to interview other candidates makes it even more premature that Martinez will announce he is leaving.

Maybe they have told fsg that unless they give him the job by then, he'll announce he's staying at Wigan ?

I'm always hesitant to form cast-iron opinions on people who do 99% of their work out of the spotlight. FSG have shown a ruthless streak in getting rid of Comolli, Dalglish, Bruckner, Hodgson et al - and yet they have rewarded Ayre. He must be doing something right, as something tells me they set very high standards.

I quite like the thought of switching to a 3-4-3 formation. It would be a interesting move anyway - and I think we more or less have the players to fit the system. I think Enrique would make a perfect wing back actually. Both him and Johnson would be great in that set up. I think if we did move to that set up, we'd clearly need a new centre back, a new forward and a new defensive midfielder (competition and cover for Lucas) - and we'd be pretty much set.

But a Managing Director should be the figurehead / public face of the company

I've not seen anything from Ayre publicly to suggest hes done enough to stay in his job nevermind get an extension & extra powers

Not impressed with Ayre, and his contract extension etc.. is warping my opinion of FSG frankly

Yeah totally. But that's a worry no matter what system we play. I do think that Carroll and Suarez will score more next year, but then I am an optimist.

Regardless, we definitely need another forward who can give those two some competition if they're not scoring.

Depends really, doesn't it. You don't hear much from the managing directors at other clubs. In football, the manager is the public face.

The whole Suarez incident was a **** up and with hindsight, he should have handled it far better. So should Dalglish. So should Suarez himself. But none of them did - we just have to hope that lessons have been learned.

Let FSG judge Ayre's performance mate - they're far better equipped. If he's really no good for the club, I'm sure they'll get rid of him.
