Can't be doing with swapping managers every year. We need to get this one right which is why I'm happy with the apparent shortlist of twelve.

Even if they have all knocked us back.

Get Van Gaal and Segura to implement the long term vision of the club, on top of having a world class manager in charge and then move Van Gaal upstairs once things are set. He can lay all the groundwork on the pitch and around Melwood which could last for years.

As for where our previous managers came from, it doesn't hold much weight when you look at the circumstances i.e. Shankly onwards up to Benitez.

Paisley, Fagan and Dalglish had no managerial experience.

the problem is that we could have a shortlist of 100 top managers with the longest interview process in history and still finish 8th or worse. Changing a manager every other season is idiotic.

Makes sense i suppose, none have had any managerial experience.

Paisley was a coach at LFC for nearly 20 years before taking over and Fagan had been a coach at the club for over 25 years when he took over so I think its safe to say despite their lack of managerial experience they had enough experience of the game as a whole to take the reins

Kenny was no doubt about it seen as a gamble by everyone outside the halls of Anfield but you have to remember the wealth of experience he had in his backroom staff (Ronnie Moran & Roy Evans) and the help he also got from Paisley who was a special advisor

I don't think that the Mancs are bothered too much about our managerial appointment ... Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton and Newcastle would be more interested ...

                So so far we have

Martinez has held talks and is having more talks
                Martinez has turned us down
Rodgers has turned us down but is expected to have more talks
Klopp has turned us down but is expected to hold talks
Van Gaal says he expects an annoncuement as DOF but everyone wants him as manager
Martinez is going to be DOF with Van Gaal as manager.

                No one knows anything.

                I'm confused.

Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

In other words there was a philosophy of football in the club, which successive managers applied with their own stamp. Isn't this what FSG want to do?

Not really ... FSG are only interested in the revenue streams ... If they really wanted a footballing philosophy suitable for LFC, they would have promoted Kenny to the Director of Football role, and appointed some young manager to work under his supervision ... Or, they would have at least considered Rafa for the manager's job, knowing that he has already implemented a successful full scale model (first team, reserves and the academy) at the club ...

Fair enough. Not going to get into an endless Rafa, Kenny, revenue stream argument although it is obviously important. At this stage I'm just going to wait it out but be as positive as possible about the whole thing.

I have a growing suspicion one of are Spanish coaches is going to get a promotion over the next couple of weeks

                          I could not disagree more.

How is appointing Martinez good for revenue streams?

Keeping Kenny or re-appointing Rafa would have resulted in a surge of interest in the brand and as a byproduct, merchandise. Those two are after all, the popular choices among the fanbase.
                          Oh I don't know.

                            I don't disagree with that.

Football philosophies if you get them right help revenue streams, FSG want to win the Title, start from there and work your way backwards

Roberto Martinez, a young, intelligent Spanish manager who impressed US audiences during his stint with ESPN during the 2010 World Cup.

A bit cynical here, but he's very marketable for FSG.

Here's a pic of him at Manchester Airport:
