IF, and it's still a big IF, it was a two horse race between Martinez and Rodgers who would you all go for and why?

I want neither, either would be massively underwhelming and would represent pretty small time thinking from FSG. Both huge gambles but I'd prefer Martinez. Swansea pass it a lot without really getting anywhere, Rodgers has failed in two out of three jobs (at Championship level), could be another one season wonder in the Prem (cf Ipswich) and his name is Brendan FFS.Originally posted by Pablo1981 View PostIF, and it's still a big IF, it was a two horse race between Martinez and Rodgers who would you all go for and why?

What's Martinez got going for him? Not being called Brendan?Originally posted by Shaggy View PostI want neither, either would be massively underwhelming and would represent pretty small time thinking from FSG. For me one of the big things about both of them is that the style they used has taken a long time to bed in at their clubs. I'm not sure that they would be very likely to turn our fortunes around quickly. I don't think that we really have massively suitable players for their ways of working (with a few notable exceptions). It was the same problem for me with AVB, the difference between the three being that AVB he has actually won stuff.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostI want neither, either would be massively underwhelming and would represent pretty small time thinking from FSG. If we are willing to give any of them the chance and back them long term I think in 2-3 seasons we would see an excellent club with a joined up top to bottom philosophy. The problem is that we would have to write off at least a year before challenging for the CL IMO. It would be an exciting project in someways but in the short term at least a painful one.
Like you in a straight fight between Rodgers and Martinez I'd go for the latter as he has shown more ability to adapt his tactics and style of play."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

But not because of any articles, i just like the way he go's about things, seems less excitable and more considered.
