Possibly no Dof F uhmmm so Rodgers is going to be the man who buys the players. Not really a huge name in British football, not really going to attract the big names. If true yet more concerns over him getting the job.

I'm looking forward to the summer with a little apprehension; I think FSG's next task is reducing the wage bill further (Maxi and Kuyt for example) and then we'll see a reduced 'splurge' this summer with a small budget (£25m for example) plus players sales - as my own guess, obv.

Whilst Liverpool will always be a big pull in my biased opinion, I do wonder how long it will be before we fail - if at all - to attract potential players on the back of our history. Rodgers has a hard sell at the moment, we will have to be very shrewd and will also have to make sure he gets the best out of the players at his current disposal, regardless of whether he doesn't see a future for them as his vision may have to built up over several transfer windows.

When you say big names, you are also talking about big price tags.
Hazard, Hulk, Higuain, Falcao etc..

Maybe they are not overly impressed with having to scrap their plan (if indeed they are scrapping it or at least modifying it somewhat) but have been forced into it - they could have spoken to Martinez and upon hearing that he wouldn't work under a DOF thought to themselves: "Yeah, Ok Roberto, thanks for your time....we'll now move on to Brendan", and when they got to Brendan found themselves in the same position, so now it's "Oh **** we'd better give some ground otherwise no cunt (that matches our preferred profile) will manage us".

This is all speculation anyway because we don't know a. What their original plans were, and b. If they have have compromised, and if so how big the compromise is - however that article did suggest a pretty significant compromise.

Fair points. I agree, it's pure speculation and I'm sure we'll find some snippets out over the next few days and weeks.

Lets be honest, it's the pay packet that counts, put that infront of them and it's all about 95% of them care about.

you just hope he has the charisma to make players believe in his football ideals.
Regardless how downbeat you are, remember we are still Liverpool FC and rightly many players will be sold by our great fans and history.

Regardless who comes in, we arent in the running for Hazards, Falcoa and others City or Chelsea are after, then take united out of the equation and no reason we cant compete with the rest.

Who else are the other managers sniffing or dreaming arounfdthat champs league spot? Redknapp and Pardew harldy inspiring. oh and an Arsenal on a strict wage structure.
