I dont have it in for Ayre just because hes Ian AyreOriginally posted by MrNice View PostMate I dont think you are a ball bag all that ****e is just a bit of fun, I do think however you have it in for Ayre, are being unfair in your assesment of him, talk about him like hez the enemy and seem to blame him for Kennys short comings in the skysports generation and the fact he did what he was told to do by the previous ownerz re rafa. We are all on the same team mate including Ian. Apologies if I came across as a bit of a ball bag. ..typed in a t
I just dont think hes a good MD, I have praised him for his role as a Commercial director and I would be happy to see him return to that role at the club
I dont blame him for Kennys shortcomings but I do feel he was asleep at the wheel during the Suarez debacle and the fact that it took intervention from FSG is a damning indictment of Ayre's ability or lack thereof. No way would that have rumbled on under PBR, it was a total lack of leadership for me
Then I look at the other week during Brendans PC. Rodgers impressed me hugely when Ayre was struggling to explain the DOF/Sporting Director situation, Rodgers stepped in and dealt with it no problem and that is really what I would expect from an MD/CEO but Ayre just flopped and floundered around
Then we have this situation with Whelan. Whilst I agree with his assessment I dont think it wise to publicly say that. It would have been better and more classy just to lay down the situation and leave it at that. The comedian comment was cringeworthy for a senior LFC executive to make. I only hope our new communications director reins him in or gags him because at time hes an embarassment in an age when you very much have to be media savvy
I have other problems with his personality and comments reportedly made off the record about our various managers but I'd put that aside to see him return to his old role
However I dont want him to be our MDBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

to be fair to Lec ..mistakes have been made and you would hope they tighten **** up somewhat but ... b rodgers ... ambitious owners who understand sport ... happy daysOriginally posted by Darkon View PostI honestly don't understand how anyone can be worked up about who our MD is, as long as the owners are happy to work with him it can't get my blood boiling. Maybe it's because there is to little else to have a go at at the moment

Dave Whelan's response.
“I cannot help it if some people misinterpreted what I said, which was that Liverpool wanted our manager, which they did as they asked permission to speak with him, and talked to him on a number of occasions,” Whelan said.
“My response is a simple one – I wish Liverpool all the very best with their new manager.
“They have appointed a super lad for the job, a very good manager, and I am very happy for them.
“We’ve kept Roberto Martinez, so I wish them luck for next season.”

i think the question is whether it was (or is) part of his responsibilities and duties to deal with a situation like the suarez one. maybe that was part of the responsibilities of commoli and cotton with ayre having no input whatsoever? after all, i don't think ayre was commoli's and cotton's boss, was he?Originally posted by Lecter View PostI dont have it in for Ayre just because hes Ian Ayre

commoli and cotton have paid the price for their shortcomings. i don't believe that ayre would still be in the job had he failed to take control of the situation. the last past month proved that fsg don't take any bull**** and don't shy away from getting rid of people who they think failed in one way or another.

maybe he was, yesOriginally posted by Lecter View PostI think Ayre was over and above both Comolli & Cotton
but if he was then why didn't he get the sack as the others did? fsg clearly feel he's doing a fine job as md. i guess part of the problem if you like is that we don't know what the md's role is at lfc.
