      I think we're in danger of considering Ian Ayre's success as Commercial Director and letting it cloud our judgement of him as Managing Director. It's not as if his whole career has been solely on the commercial aspect of all the companies he has worked for.

        I agree but it also seems the area where he has had his most success.

          The fact that Ayre is still MD, I think any future slating needs to be directed at FSG.
          They are the ones who have decided he is good enough to continue in the roll.

            I have to ask the question, why is Ayre not good enough as a MD? What does an MD do day to day for a football club?

              That's what I keep asking. I would guess his performance can be based on the financials. Which we haven't seen for FSG yet.

                              Surely a public image is part of being an MD of a major company

                                What is the public image of the MD of BP, or MacDonalds?

                                I am guessing the bottom line is what they are judged on. How succesful are they? That is pretty much all that counts, IMO.

                                Does the same apply to football managers, iro public image?
