What is the public image of the MD of BP, or MacDonalds?

I am guessing the bottom line is what they are judged on. How succesful are they? That is pretty much all that counts, IMO.

Does the same apply to football managers, iro public image?

I've never heard the MD of BP or McDonalds slagging off their counterparts at Shell or Burger King in the manner Ayre did have you???

Kenny was slagged off by many on here and many journalists for his public image so I see no reason why Ayre should escape criticism for failings in that

I grew up in an era when the club was run by PBR, when the club behaved with dignity and respect

Well, I have never heard of the BP and MacDonals MDs. My point is that it's pretty irrelevent imo. They are judged on the bottom line, which is profits and share price. They deliver that, and they are pretty much untouchable, unless there is a fraud or something underhand.

Iro managers, the perception of Kenny and Rafa in the wider media and from non LFC fans is far from generally positive. So what do we do as fans? Of course we defend them and say that it does not matter what others might think, because actually, it's irrelevent what they think. Results are all that really matters.

Of course Parry was not judged on profits or share price as people running football clubs generally aren't. Had he been MD of FTSE100 company, he would have been. Football clubs are ultimately judged by results on the pitch. And those are underpinned by off the pitch performance, which ultimately generates the income to pay for the best players.

Ultimately, he failed on the stadium front and that was his undoing. That is what led him to jump into bed with H&G. He talked a good game though.

As for Ayre, he melted in to the backgound during the Suarez affair, but you don't like that either...

I think you see more of the MD of such companies when something go's tit's up, then their public image becomes relevant.

Even during the darkest days of those twin disasters, I don't ever recall him saying anything in public? I may be wrong of course.
