At least he's giving it a go. I think he could do quite well if we start playing him higher up the field.

Didn't mean to give him any stick, as long as he manages to not **** up the simple things (like those through balls to Shelvey and Henderson) he can still do well for us.

First half looked very good, Suarez didn't have his best game, but still caused problems. Gerrard and Lucas were great.

Worried about our depth though, midfield in the second half was poor at best.

A good workout against a Leverkusen side who looked threatening in attack. Gave us an opportunity to work on our pressing game and although sometimes we struggled to win it back, the way in which we pressed was very encouraging. Our technique with the ball is so much better and I'm pleased that Downing is having a go now, even though I think this may be his last season with us.

Factor in the relaxed atmosphere, a friendly game, the game after a Europa League qualifier which was full of intensity, this was a good game. I can't wait to start the new season now. Hoping we can bring in a few more new signings to supplement the squad.

Still like to see 1 or 2 new faces come in this Summer to help bolster the squad depth but all in all things are looking reasonably decent for the coming season.

Bring in Sahin, and a couple of wide forwards and we are in good shape imo, another striker would be nice too.

At the very least either a midfielder or a wide forward, I think Gerrard is capable of playing either role that isn't filled.
