This should change once Kelly, Carra, Hendo, Spearing, Adam and even Shelvey are removed from the team and replaced by Geejo, Skrtel, Lucas, Allen, Sahin and Gerrard.Originally posted by Parr_Zee View PostThe stand-out thing for me is how much we lack penetration. The midfield and defence have to pass the ball backwards so often because there is no movement in front of them.
Borini and Sterling were giving enough options up front but we just don't have the backup players with the quality or confidence to pass forwards. Shelvey specially disappointed me with suicidal cross field passes backwards or simple over hits which gave Borini little chance. One tit for another.

I'm not sure about that. Part of the tactics Rodgers employs is to keep the ball - a lot of sideways/backwards passing is what we are trying to do a lot of the time.Originally posted by Parr_Zee View PostThe stand-out thing for me is how much we lack penetration. ****ing hell most on here are about to slit their wrists.
Kelly is 22, Robinson 18, Sterling 17, Henderson 22, Shelvey 20, Borini 21. Add Adam Morgan who is 18/19 and that is half the players used 22 or under and idiots posting on here that it was ****.
Sterling's 1st start, Robinson has maybe started 2 games before? Shelvey 4/5 and Borini 1 at West Brom (for us)
How are these young lads meant to improve, gain experience, become better footballers and perform consistantly better in the first team if we don't give them a chance in games like this??
FFIW Borini will be great, he works hard has very intelligent movement and will score goals, the linesman wrongly flagged him offside twice denying him 1 on 1's with the keeper.
Allen is a proper footballer, I said in his thread before we signed him he is the nearest in type/style I have seen domestically to Paul Scholes. Allen always receives the ball on his back foot so is already half turned, Jay by comparison needs 4 touches to manouvere the ball into the same position.
When Lucas regains full match fitness those 2 will be as good as anyone in the PL.
We weathered their excitable chasing and closing down. Should have won by more than 1 Sterling proved he is ready to be involved in the 18 every game, Robinson didn't look out of place and Henderson showed he will do well in the Rodgers style of football.
The quicker Adam and Spearing leave the better.
Hopefully Carra playing means he won't against Man C on Sunday, if he does it could get embarrasing with Tevez's movementThe King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Apart from the likes of City and Chelsea what teams do really have quality in depth?Originally posted by Mattshark View PostThe issue is with the quality of our depth. Spearing, Henderson and Adam are experienced enough, they just seriously lack quality.
Are they any worse than the likes of Bentley, Jenas and other teams fringe players?_____________________________________
Weak willed, Wank or do they have a masterplan?
Think we have the answer..Slot!!

I agree. Only a few of last night's starting lineup will play against City, but I never felt at any stage that we looked like losing the game. In fact I thought we were very comfortable and played the game in second gear. But for a couple of poor finishes the game would have been put to bed a lot earlier. Hearts just huffed and puffed without really threatening. That shot in injury time was their best moment of the match. Other than that I could never see them scoring.Originally posted by magicalbarnes View PostCan't believe the amount of negativity on here. Look at the positives,we won 0-1 away from home and didn't play too well. When other teams do that apparantly it's the mark of a good team.
Let's get behind the team. Some of the possession football towards the end of the 2nd half was impressive.
It never ceases to amaze me how some fans (and all newspaper reports) seem to ignore absolutely anything positive in a Liverpool performance and just nit-pick their way through 90 minutes looking for any negative aspect to amplify and exaggerate.
I've seen our strongest starting lineups look less impressive than last night's makeshift one in European competition so I can't see any reason to be negative at all

Hendo was **** last night. His running around game with no end product and poor passing will not suit Rodgers game but Adam's game would be a good fit.
Agreed on carra though, hopefully Coates plays but I reckon it's a stick on carra and skrtelPeople who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

In fairness he was played out of position once again and he is just not suitable to be on the right.Originally posted by baitman View Posthenderson is invisible, i cannot believe the people who see him as actually adding to the team it was a poor performance all round, but hendo...
every time he received a pass he would pass back or sideways, then run on, trying to look like he was being positive and making an attacking move. in reality he was just running away from the ball and the play. he is a dodger, and he comes not to play .
He offers there little or nothing at all.
That said even when he plays in the midfield he plays way too safe. Like you said back pass after back pass, side pass after side pass, no convinction to go forward or try the forward pass, rarely or ever he'll try to dribble or take his man..
I get he is pissed that he is not a starter now but when he does get the chance to play he needs to impress and he does quite the opposite.
Sad times but it is on him.
He has no one else to blame but himself.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club
