I thought Carragher would have been nailed on to start vs City due to his experience or more likely Coates lack of it. But with him starting against Hearts and Coates getting no game time at all I'm starting to have 2nd thoughts now.

That would mean Agger won't play then

It'll be Carra and Agger at the back. With no Aguero, its not quite the disaster it could have been.

Agger is suspended mate. Do you mean Skrtel?

Oh, and do we know if Ageuro is definitely out?

Hope to see him on the bench and given a 30min run out. Bit nervous about the game, but fingers crossed we can really step it up. Such a shame agger is missing. Carragher should definitely start over Coates. His experience will be vital.

Be great to see Sahin on the bench too (provided we actually sign him and he's eligible!!!)

I'd like to see Coates given the start, everybody goes on about his experience and while its true of his career so far at liverpool, he has already played a fair bit at a international level, he starred at the copa america when Uruguay won. He is 22/23 right? old enough imo and virtually every game i have seen him play for liverpool he has looked quite handy.

I've already eliminated the events of last weekend already it seems

Could be right then in Coates playing.

totally agree. I don't want to see too much of Carra anymore. Not against top opposition anyway.

Think he's out for a month but definitely out against us.

hahaha Mancini with the mind games this early in the season.

                        Mancini: Liverpool could lift title

Liverpool are challengers for the Premier League title, according to Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini.

Brendan Rodgers: Faces City on Sunday
Mancini takes his City side to Anfield on Sunday to face a team who finished 37 points behind his Premier League champions last season and who lost at West Bromwich Albion last Saturday.

But the Italian believes that a change of manager on Merseyside, with Brendan Rodgers replacing Kenny Dalglish, and the quality in the squad means they could end Liverpool's 22-year wait for a 19th title.

He explained: "I think Liverpool will fight for the title this year because they bought good players, they have a good manager, they change their style of play."

Rodgers' reign got off to a slow start at The Hawthorns, but Mancini, whose side drew at Anfield in both the Premier League and the Carling Cup last season, is anticipating an awkward afternoon.

He said: "Every game we play at Anfield is really tough. For us it will be a difficult game. Also because they come from a game against West Bromwich where probably they didn't deserve to lose but football is strange."

City will be without last season's top scorer Sergio Aguero but Mancini is optimistic the Argentine will be fit to return after the international break.

The striker injured a knee in Sunday's 3-2 win over Southampton, prompting fears he would miss much of the season, but now his manager hopes he can return at Stoke on September 15.

He said: "Aguero is not so bad as we thought. I think maybe after international break he will be ready [in] three or four weeks.

"After two weeks he can start to train maybe. After four weeks he can play."

Mancini is *wank* at mind games - he just comes across as thick and obvious.

They worked last year when he said that the title was already United's.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
