too bad for Skrtel mistake, he had very good game. anyway, a draw against champions is good achievement, but we were better team and we deserved a win, IMO.

Sterling is a beast, Suarez as well

too bad for Lucas, but that happens when you are not fully prepared.

Very disappointed to only draw with us giving away two goals but at the start of the match would have took a draw.

Good to see Luis finding the inside of the post this season.

Lucas injured hopefully nothing too serious.

And I know its a relatively minor incident but the fact that Marriner could give a free kick against Sterling when he was chasing that ball in the second half.... Shows how disgracefully incompetent at his job he is. Most people would be sacked for making such a basic error.

There is definitely a danger that people regard them as definitive. However, it has to be a step forward from phone-ins and TV punditry, they at least encourage moving away from the most simplistic analyses.

It felt like the 3-2 defeat we had against the mancs early on in houlliers era. You could see the mentality and ethos and we looked good. Defensive errors aside we actually looked like we had a purpose! Really positive after that!

The one where Carragher scored two own goals in front of The Kop? Maybe my memory is playing tricks but it didn't feel that great at the time.

And was that really all that early on in Houllier's reign?
            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Massimo Taibi was in goal for them I think and played a blinder, typical!!

Delighted with the performance overall. The way we controlled the game and the second half in particular, we were patient and clever, as well as pressing City. You can tell there were some fresh attacking ideas there, but we weren't capable of pulling them off just yet due to team chemistry and the new system.

Patient possession and exploitation of space was really impressive today. Feels like a defeat the way we chucked the game away, but for where we are, and where we want to be, there are plenty of positives to take.

It was 1999, Big Sami scored his first goal for us in that game.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Yes. I remember moaning about it to my girlfriend. She was worried he was sh*t - she was a Man United fan. I told her he wasn't. Fortunately I was wrong.

When did Evans resign though? Houllier joined in 98, didn't he, so 99/00 was his first full season on his own. I thought he had quite a few games as sole manager in 98/99.

Yeah, but what about Carragher's two own goals?

Thought Henderson, Adam and Downing were completely anonymous today too.

Oh I hope not. Really? Works hard and has no ball control and is frustrating as ****. Thank bollocks for the radio.

Lots of positives. Loved how hard the players fought to win the ball back and how they kept going to get the lead each time we lost it. They showed lots of belief and that can only be good for team confidence. Chuck nuri sahin in and we have a strong midfield.

Also can't believe someone said Gerrard was **** today. He created both goals and we dominated midfield

I somehow doubt Skrtel will ever do a Gerrard again. Gerrard has done a Gerrard a few times in his career so it's only fair that someone else did a Gerrard
                                I agree.

He had a very good game.

I have to admit I was little bit concerned that we may leak goals left and right with Lucas being injured but he, Gerrard and Allen played very well defensively.

He was incredibly composed and calm just like Allen and unlucky that he didn't score.
