Man, those are some haunting words.

Cant even imagine what it would've been like trying to commentate that game seeing the tragedy unfold, and try to do your job and have to convey the absolute heartbreaking scenes to people listening on radio or tv.

Difficult to know what to say even all these years later.

I was massively affected even without being anywhere near the game as an avid 14 year old Liverpool supporter. So I can’t even begin to comprehend what those of you who attended went through and are still going through.

Grief and trauma are complex emotions, so take it easy today Shanks69

Shanks - It was my 21st birthday that day which was the only reason i wan't there. My family spent the evening waiting to hear from other members that were at the match just to know they were safe. Back then, no-one had a mobile phone. By grace of God they were all safe but like you, to this day they have blocked out a lot of what they witnessed. Although 95 died that day and the 96th a couple of years later, there are more that have taken their own life since. Thoughts to everyone affected by the tragic events that day.

With all respect to the 96 that have passed on, why are the ones who have taken their own lives since not mentioned?...Their lives matter too, they simply couldn't cope with their trauma of that dark day & the support for them wasn't enough to help them...That number should have gone up in due respect as they were present on that day.
Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!

I was 11 and have the same. The queues round every phone box as we walked away from the ground in complete silence stick in the memory, but lots of the rest of it has been blanked and comes back in dribs and drabs. Make sure you talk about it to those who know though. I feel lucky that I have a good support network of mates who were also there, but it's tough each year around the anniversary. JFT96 YNWA.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
