Just seen the 'dive' again. How anyone can view that as a dive is beyond me. The lad put his foot in, missed the ball and clearly caught Suarez.

Understandable but inexcusable for other fans or referees with their prejudices, but how our own fans can't see it is baffling. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

He cant seem to get anything, it's ridiculous. Now he's close to a ban when none of the yellows were warranted, was manhandled to the ground by Mertesacker which should have seen them down to 10men and us the chance to level up at 1-1, and theres yesterdays aswell which would be a lot easier to take if refs had done their job properly previously and we'd got the Kolarov and Mert ones and at least one of West Broms soft ones werent given.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostJust seen the 'dive' again. I was a penalty at that point in the game. It was a penalty after seeing the replay. It is still a penalty today.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostJust seen the 'dive' again. How anyone can view that as a dive is beyond me. The lad put his foot in, missed the ball and clearly caught Suarez.

Seeing as he has this reputation, which is not entirely undeserved but mainly, what next. He's not going to shake it off. Refs aren't going to change.
He's in the wrong league imo. He should move to Spain for his own good. I also think selling him to a spanish team is not necessarily a bad idea, despite mocking the idea of selling him yesterday. He won't get the rub of the green, defenders know that. Some kind of controversy (genuine or otherwise) feels like it's always on the horizon to me, and he's worth good money. The things he does are amazing but you don't really need to do amazing things to score and create goals in the PL. If we are short of funds, and we clearly are, then I can certainly see an argument for selling him while his stock is high and reinvesting the money as I'm just not sure that we're going to see him regularly doing what we think he's capable of in England.
A good game against the mancs and I'll probably think differently though.

I think most people who are getting on his back are just frustrated with our lack of options. I said at the end of the window that people might get on his back, he might be a good prospect but we need someone who can produce now, if he isn't playing great but the team is doing well he'll be afforded time, if the team isn't doing well he'll get stick. My worry with him is if we have to take him out of the firing line at some point and are unable to because of the lack of options it may harm his development.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostPeople getting on the back of Borini......
His touch isn't always the best, but his movement is first class. He wasn't the only one, but on quite a number of occasions he would have been in with a clear sign of goal had the player in possession made one more pass instead of shooting.
It's annoying to see us take our time, only to get a rush of blood when presented with the opposition goal. To me, it's blatantly a lack of confidence and when we start winning games, people will see a more controlled LFC in the final third. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

We don't keep the ball just to attack though. If we pass the ball about for ten minutes without creating any chances, is that crap attacking play or superb defensive play? This was one of my worries about the style of play Rodgers is trying to implement. At this summer's Euro tournament there was a fair bit of criticism of Spain for being boring and I did wonder if there would be chants of "attack attack attack" this season.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostShearer is a boring cunt. But he is right in that Allen does have a habit of taking the easy option at times. Of course we want ball retention and at times it's important to slow the game and make the opposition work hard to get it back. But ultimately we need to score goals. It's no point Allen having a 99 percent pass completion stat if it's got us nowhere. At times by passing the buck to another player we lose the ball anyway. So we've made 30 sideways passes and the opposition have sat back and let us and we have nothing positive to show for it. He has to try and look up a little more and take responsibility for affecting the game ,signs look good and I like the look of him. But if we continue to struggle mark my words people willstart to get on his back. Nature of the beast I'm afraid.Never knowingly optimistic

Everyone goes on about players reputations being a factor in these types of decisions, but to me that suggests that the referees are more or less just guessing what happened and then deciding whether to give a pen based on if the player has a reputation for diving or not, which is clearly wrong. There should be no guessing involved. I'd rather have a game where refs give alot less pens but they are sure that the ones they give are right, than the situation we have at the moment where some teams/players are denied clear penalties while other teams/players consistently get awarded pens that shouldn't be givenOriginally posted by Assassin View PostIts pretty poor that neither the linesman or the ref saw it. The pen -
I think it was difficult for the ref to be definitive on with such fleeting but significant contact, and with the exaggerated fall Suarez' reputation inevitably worked against him. Have to say I thought it was a dive until I saw the replay.
Borini -
Best thing about him is his movement, unfortunately you only get the best of that once everyone is adept at playing each other in. Clearly we are not there yet, especially in the final third. I think he'll prove a decent acquisition, even if underwhelmingly so.
Sahin -
Surely just a question of BR wanting him up to speed with the system before he is thrown in?
Hendo -
Where does he fit into our plans? At the moment I'm not sure he'll get the time needed to develop. Hope that changes because he could prove a sound squad member.
Allen -
Like Chris said, he doesn't "sometimes go for the easy option", he always looks for the right option. Definitely not a coward on the ball. Sometimes when you're not executing well it's important to get a period of possession and build some rhythm, confidence, rather than trying to score with urgency. That way your forwards don't get edgy and snatch at chances; they feel there will be another coming and are more focussed. It's important to adjust the tempo to the circumstances and Allen does it well IMO.Like blood on iron
