Shearer is a boring cunt. But he is right in that Allen does have a habit of taking the easy option at times. Of course we want ball retention and at times it's important to slow the game and make the opposition work hard to get it back. But ultimately we need to score goals. It's no point Allen having a 99 percent pass completion stat if it's got us nowhere. At times by passing the buck to another player we lose the ball anyway. So we've made 30 sideways passes and the opposition have sat back and let us and we have nothing positive to show for it. He has to try and look up a little more and take responsibility for affecting the game ,signs look good and I like the look of him. But if we continue to struggle mark my words people willstart to get on his back. Nature of the beast I'm afraid.

Allen isn't in the side to score goals. He's there to retain possession and break up attacks - which isn't actually his favoured role by the way.

One game where his performance dips slightly (despite coming in off the back of stomach bug) and people are saying he passes sideways too much. Sell Suarez and Allen!

I honestly think Rodgers should come out in the press and state the facts regarding Suarez never getting decisions. Refer to yesterday and highlight the difference between what Suarez got and what Danny wellbeck got. Highlight how often Ashley Young and United as a club get soft pens and even when he is fouled Suarez rarely gets a decision. Ask the question why those 3 are treated differently. Ask the question is it because two of them are English.

What's the worst that would happen? A fine off the FA . Who cares. Get it out into the public. Put pressure on the refs to be fair. Even if it means Suarez still doesn't get any decisions at least Refs might think twice when a United player goes down.

I think that was part of it, but I still think if an Liverpool manager said it the reaction would be similar. I think most other fans and the media have a dislike of us as a club and wouldn't pay much attention.

playing the 4-3-3 with 2 deep lying midfielders was not working yesterday (hasnt looked that good since start of season) but soon as we switch to 2 of the 3 midfielders playing further foward on the pitch we looked a lot better. obviously with lucas out it limits our defensive play and allen is not IMO capable of playing it on his own hence gerrard playing a deeper role.

suarez looked to be playing a bit wider than in previous games but he looked out of sorts and only when he went central did he start to look menacing again. hate saying it, but borini might be the weak link in this system. hopefully he'll adapt sooner rather than later.

downing and sterling out wide of suarez was looking much much better. id like to see this line up for the united game as it gives proper width and delivery.

When rodgers came out and basically said the owners were to blame for the carroll fiasco because of finance reasons I dont think he did himself any favours.

Its too early yet but weve got some tough fixtures coming up and getting thrashed by united wont.help.
