In Fulhams current magazine they have an article regarding the first anniversary of Johnny Haynes' death. His best mate and fellow team member Tosh Chamberlain is interviewed and talks, amongst other things, about the LFC match at the Cottage when they did the tribute etc. The old boy mentions that he got over emotional and cracked up a bit. He then says that Pepe came over to him, put his arm around him and said a few words of comfort. He was genuinely touched by someone who would never have heard of Haynes etc, but obviously understood what he meant to Tosh and Fulham.
He also was generous in his praise for the other players and of course the fans. I remeber being proud of our fans for the absolute silence at the time, but can't remember the Pepe incident.
Nice one Pepe, good lad.
