Confidence? Player management? He's not started a league game, Coates has. His actions are what matter and I had no problem with him playing Carragher tonight, next season we might have better option, but for now we don't.

So Rodgers needs to give Carragher a boost so he (Carragher) can then give a boost to the young players he's supposed to be inspiring? Why not just cut out the middle man and have Rodgers giving the young players a boost?

It's also puzzling why Coates doesn't get into the Premier League squads. He was clearly the superior CB in this game, yet didn't even make the bench vs. the mancs today (and wasn't on the bench vs Sunderland), yet he started against the Man City. I can't find a logical explanation for it that is in the best interests of the Liverpool FC.
