    The Europa Leauge

I am starting to think we could actually be in with a genuine shot of winning this, this campaign. I do not think people will under estimate the importance of this club being in Europe again. So far its been a wonderful proving ground for up and coming talent and players trying to get back into the first team, exactly exactly what it should be.

I am thoroughly enjoying it thus far. Suso continues to impress

I don't think we have a big enough squad to deal with the Europa League and the Premiership, we're basically playing a reserve team at this point which is fine but if we make it through to the knockout stages we'll find it difficult to play strong teams in both the League and Europe.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

As long as second string and fringe players like Downing are used for the Europa then we'll be OK. Weird times we're witnessing

The second string are fine for the group stage but if we make it to the knock out stages there are some good teams there that the reserve team won't beat.

I think it will help us no end this season, keep a certain group of players hungry and the further we go along in the competition the more we can blend the 1st and 2nd string team trying to get into the senior set up.

Gonna provide some essential competitive game time to youngsters and give Brendog an idea of who's ready (ie, Suso, Wisdom) and who's not.

              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I agree somewhat with the people who say we don't have the squad to take this seriously. However, if we win our 3 home games, then coupled with the away win in Switzerland last week, then that should be enough to get through the group.

The knockout phase then does not restart until the 14th of Feb - at which point I would like to think that our squad will have 2 or 3 more additions.

I can see us being knocked out of the Cap-One cup this week - but to be honest, i think the Europa would be maybe a better experience for the likes of Suso, Shelvey, Sterling, Wisdom etc anyway........ and hopefully the likes of Yesil, Ngoo and Morgan can step up in the same way that Suso and Sterling have.....

What is going to be funny (or sad....but then if you don't laugh you will cry!) is that we will end up playing our second string team in the latter europa games.......in order to rest our first teamers such as Suso, Sterling and Wisdom!

Our second string will consist of a left back that cost 6m, a left winger-cum-statue that cost £20m......a dynamic central midfielder that cost £14-20m (depending on what newspaper/website you read) and an arsehole that didn't actually cost any transfer fee but costs about the transfer fees of Sterling, Suso and Shelvey for every year he is at the club.......
