Physically, Lucas isn't that much bigger than him - bit bigger built but we're not talking about someone who is Fellaini's size.

Anyway, when Lucas is back, we'll get to see him more offensively and carrying the ball forward - incisive passing.
First of all, Lucas is very good in the air, and he's taller than Allen by about 4 inches. He's much more of a presence defensively. Furthermore, he's a natural defensive midfielder who relishes the 50-50 battles and his tackling is top notch.

Joe Allen is not a bad tackler at all, but it's clear he's more comfortable playing further up the pitch. He's playing DM because we have no one better and because he's familiar with BR's system. The guy is very similar to Xavi in his style of play. You don't see Xavi playing DM, ever. I think he'd struggle there just as much, especially in this league.

        No it's what happened

It's the derby always physical. Officials were awful and fellaini should have got booked but he was immense for them and made that midfield his own.

Our team is going to be excellent in time, I am convinced of that. Soon linesmen decisions will be laughed off by us because we'll be good enough to hold on to a 2 goal lead without conceding another 2 in quick succession.

Well for him to be effective, we need to pass it far better. Everything else is irrelevant.
                Are we winning?

I'm not disagreeing with you, but stature isn't everything. Mascherano was 5'6" and was he ever dominated by a taller player when playing DM for Liverpool? He plays CD for Barca and looks nothing but good there as well.

Thing is, he is where he is because we have no options in the squad. Would you prefer to see Spearing recalled (shorter?) and push Allen further forward? I wouldn't.

He's playing DM because our squad is wafer thin.

Allen was very good today. Really don't understand that stick at all.

He pushed, hassled, and tackled Fellaini all over the pitch, he didn't have his 100% pass completion rate today but he showed a grafter side to him, and even a bit of bite.

Was a good performance from him in a game where he probably faced the toughest opponent he will all season.

So they don't think it was the Coates challenge either. How could a linesman think that was offside? It wasn't ****ing marginal, it was clearly onside.

Suarez was already into his victory celebration and the linesmen still hadn't put his flag up. Any talk of a foul by Coates from the officials would be a complete sack of ****.

Respect to Moyes for saying that.

Also, I don't understand why we didn't play a passing game. Does anybody know why? It wasn't the usual stuff we play.

Yeah, fair play. Still a bit miffed he spewed all that tripe about Suarez beforehand though
