    Newcastle Build Up Thread

How does everyone see this going? I think we'll be pretty comfortable and win it. My big bro is a fan of Newcastle and says they have been playing poor lately but still managing to scrape wins. He says Pardew will get found out eventually as there is no fluidity to their play at the moment. Hope thats the case. Think we can win this though.

Isn't he persisting with 4-4-2? How does your bro feel about Pardew's 8 year contract ?

I think it's 50/50, like most of our games. I'd like to see something like this.

    Reina (if fit)

    Wisdom Agger Skrtel Johnson

    Gerrard Allen Sahin

    Sterling Suarez Assaidi

Not like we have many options, Shelvey, Suso, Downing and Enrique could come into contention, hopefully not for the latter two. Shelvey needs to be reminded about his limits.
    * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I think we'll see goals for sure, look forward(ish) to it.

Newcastle were 5/1 this morning, pretty long odds for a two horse race.

He isn't happy He was a huge fan of Chris Hughton like many other Newcastle fans and I think he is bitter towards Pardew because he came in to replace him. I think Pardew does an alright job but its pretty hard not to with the likes of Ben Arfa, Cisse and Ba as attacking options.

I presume that Pardew was responsible for bringing them in? So credit where credit is due I guess. It's certainly a better transfer record than LFC have managed over the same period.
              Oh I don't know.

Actually I think they rely on their scout Carr and the other people in the scouting team. Pardew just goes by their recommendation apparantely.

Newcastle aren't playing great, my Geordie mate would totally agree with your bro about fluidity I think, but they have been scraping results more efficiently than us. Ben Arfa on form could really cause havoc in the same areas of the pitch as Michu, Carzola etc have in previous games, and their strikers are dangerous. I think we'll have a good amount of possession, and Suarez & Sterling really can hurt their defence, but they're always going to be a threat for a random goal if we're not finishing our chances off as usual.

Could be a decent game actually

I guess the same is true of all managers these days.

Rafa was (as still is) certainly heavily reliant on his scouting network.

You just know that as soon as he gets finally a job, he'll have his list of targets ready at the interview stage.
                    Oh I don't know.

God, is he not over that yet? All the Newcastle fans I know have to have pretty short memories, they're always mad about something or other Mike Ashley does then forgetting it in time for him to do something else. Especially if they've been winning.

Pardew's done a pretty decent job with that team, its a decent first XI with one or two very good players in it but they've a weak squad and haven't spent any money again last summer. He has particularly managed Ben Arfa quite well imo. A couple of injuries and the loss of form from Cisse & Tiote like has happened so far, well they were never going to be quite as good as last year.

I think if we beta decent Ref & he keeps both eyes open we'll go onto win this one. I've got a good feeling the lads will respond well after the Cup loss
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

difficult to call but unless we start putting a run of wins together the pressure will now start to build on BR.......... one of the guys at work even mentioned Harry redknapp would do better in charge of liverpool

Think we'll get battered, we're really not very good. God forbid Luis or Stevie are injured at any point this season.

Hard to know how we'll do!

With Chelsea (a), Wigan (h), Swansea (a) and Spurs (a) coming up, it's hard to see where a run of wins in the PL might come from ("There's no easy game" is no longer a cliche).

Despite a small squad, I do think we can beat anyone on our day, but the opposite also applies unfortunately as our defence is very suspect imo and we don't score enough of our good (or great) chances

I think this instability will continue until the transfer window. Hopefully that Man City scout has identified targets and we're moving on them already (I think the head one joined at least?) - ideally good value foreigners!
