Here's where I'm gonna get crucified - Allen should've come off for Shelvey as he is as good as Henderson imo & when Lucas is back Allen should be dropped to the bench.
There I said it - let the swearing/pillars of abuse begin...
henderson as good as allen
shelvey has moments where he looks like he could be absolute boss then games like today where he had a good 3 chances and made a mess of all of them. i wouldnt like to buy another attacking midfielder though cause that would stunt his growth and i still see him as the natural gerrard successorOriginally posted by cream View PostDifferent players. As an attacking midfielder, Shelvey isn't good enough yet, we need to buy one this coming window.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

The familiar story of playing well but not winning is getting tiresome.
Luis Suarez was incredible... how long he stays at a club where he single handiliy is relied on to win every game... i just don't know!! Hopefully a long, long time. The guy is world class & his enthusiasm, determination and work rate puts some of our players to shame.
Agger & Skrtel is superb together, not foot wrong today great partnership. Wisdom i'm not really a fan of, awkward and technically average, RB does not suit him. Enrique well...... the sooner the better he is sold, appalling display! The guy is so slow to release the ball it's insane, zero positional sense & he turns like a bus. Gerrard is my hero, but the guy needs to be put on the bench for awhile, i can think of one stand out performance from him in about a year.. hat trick vs Everton. Mostly now he' s just there, the odd sprayed ball & decides to make a burst of pace every 25 minutes. But mostly just cruises around and can be anonymous in games.
Sahin is very gifted but i worry about him adapting to the pace of the league, he is very lethargic and a bit lazy. Personally i think he'll be the first to go once Lucas comes back as IMO he doesn't suit Rogers workmanlike system, he has been awful in the premier league games fro one so talented. Sterling is still so raw but the lad works his bollocks off, just lacks that end product we vitally need. Suso for me isn't quite ready for regular first team action. His technique is fantastic but he just doesn't do much out there on the wing which clearly isn't his position. In time hopefully he'll play an integral role centrally.
Poor oul Joe Allen looks knackered too, surely needs a rest, he's desperately trying to play the Lucas role protecting the backline and closing the spaces but it is just not his game, and last 3 games his usually pin point passing... has gone to the ****ter.
Disappointed not to see Assaidi and even more disappointed to see Downing, he is a useless wimp, the less said about him the better. Shelvey also IMO has regressed bait, looked so promising pre season, and at seasons start but has had several stinkers recently. Looks lethargic and awkward, lack of first team football in the premier league or just bad form? Whatever it is he has been very poor, can't make my mind up about him his performances are so contrasting.
Anyways Newcastle were pretty dire & apart from a fantastic goal did absolutely nothing. Our dismal home continues, these days i'd rather see us playing away from home. Role on January so hopefully Rogers can get together some cash to sort this **** out.

He did deliver two very good balls into the box though. Sterling, for all his effort and intent, didn't have much of an impact in the game. He's a kid though, so expectations are too high.Originally posted by BigChief View PostVery impressive performance. I was expecting us to score zero goals today however was hoping to dominate possesion (until we bring in a finisher in January). Really happy to see we did dominate and a bit of Suarez magic to add to my enthralment.
Sterling has all of this season to start adding a world class end product to his world class potential. No rush for him and there shouldn't be any rush from the fans either .
Downing chickened out of a 70/30 in his favour challenge, and then later chickened out of a header for a floated ball on to his head because he thought the defender would clatter him. Had he attempted the header we could have kept the ball in the danger zone for longer. Sterling has more guts in his little toe than Downing has in his whole body.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Sterling had some good deliveries in the first 5 minutes of the match.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostHe did deliver two very good balls into the box though. Sterling, for all his effort and intent, didn't have much of an impact in the game. He's a kid though, so expectations are too high.
On the flip side, I saw Sterling jump for balls against Anita (the player Downing chickened out with) and win headers despite risk of a serious clattering. One tit for another.

What a surprising performance. Unbelieveable. Its almost like they reffed with gay abandon and no word in the ear from Ferguson.
That'll change when they're relegated to the championship.

Originally posted by Marina View PostI disagree. Like someone else said, Rodgers inherited a squad in need of major refurbishment and has done several things right. He's managed to convince our best senior players to buy into his vision, and he's bedded in some of the youth but has done so responsibly. Also we're beginning to see his vision in many of our displays. Swansea and Arsenal were aberrations imo. Terrible but not indicative of how we've been playing this season. I love Kenny and cried like a baby when they sacked him but I think we're doing better now. Rodgers has a concrete plan and knows what he needs to do to execute it. I don't think many of us could say the same for Kenny.
Why do you love Kenny so much - wasn't he a bit before your time or did you enjoy his comeback?

Not sure why we are waiting to move Gerrard into the front 3,he's offering **** all in the centre 3.At least up top he offers goal threat and its not like we will be more vulnerable in the centre because he's playing like he's not there anyway
get him up there and drop Suso back or play Shelvey.

Was good to see how compact our back four was when defending; The full-back(s) tucked in to become parallel with the box, whilst our wide midfielders filled in at full-back creating a nice solid base. It makes me feel confident this is something we're working on.
Unfortunately, Enrique can't have been paying much attention and he should have let Sterling make the initial challenge for the ball that led to the goal and he should have covered. As it happens, Enrique did nothing other than afford the attacker space as he stood off him and let the ball come into the box.
Kudos to Newcastle, they were very resolute and put in a lot if groundwork.
One other point, something I noticed were some players seemingly giving up on supporting our attack when Suarez got into the final third; It was almost as if they knew they weren't going to get the ball, so they didn't follow up in any areas where the ball may have broken to or even taking that chance. More so in the first half perhaps.
An excellent performance from Sterling, superceded by a majestic performance from Suarez.
