We still really need some firepower up front, some more clinical finishers. Yesterday Shelvey, Sterling and Suso all had chances enough that we should have put a few more away. I know they are young, and it's not quite fair to put all the pressure on them, but they lack some composure in their play. We really need some more experience amongst the last 4-5 players to both take pressure away from the youngsters and to give them a breather now and then.

Our defence finally looks solid again, seems like Agger and Skrtel have found eachother perfectly again. Enrique I really don't see much in anymore, not sure what he contributes?

I think we are progressing as a team, and hopefully we will soon start to convert draws in to wins, but I'm afraid it might not happen untill we get a better (or outright really) striker in the team, and hopefully in January.

The talent is there, the play is getting there - we just need the last push.

In January we need a top kwalitee CF and a LB. That will do for me.

Yes but we weren't winning & therefore needed to be more attacking so taking off Allen for Shelvey would've made us more attack-minded.
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

Not sure about that, he was **** when he came on.

get him up there and drop Suso back or play Shelvey.
Personally I think we are vulnerable in the centre because none of the 3 midfielders we play (doesnt matter what combination) win enough possession or press the ball enough

This is one of my major worries about Rodgers

His system cant possibly work unless he wins possession as high up the pitch as possible and turns it

Yes people will point to the obvious loss of Lucas but pressing should be more organised than just relying on one individual. I concede he (Lucas) might set your tempo and example in your pressing but I'm shocked at how little Rodgers has gotten out of other players in terms of this

For me this sort of thing is the easiest thing to do in football, yet Rodgers seems to be starting his whole system rebuild arse-about-face

I thought we were let down by three things yesterday:

              1) Enrique's final ball

              2) Wisdom's inexperience

              3) Shelvey's half-hearted cameo

Other than those, the rest of the team did enough for the 3 points.

Everyone can say Suso and Sterling have too much inexperience but I sure prefer them being on over Downing and Cole. The only one who could really take their places right now is Assaidi

He could have defended better for the goal but, IMO, it all stemmed from a really, really lazy throw by Wisdom which gave them possesion and killed our momentum.

Downing and Cole should never wear that shirt again.

That pass aside, Enrique was okay by his usual gash standards. We really need a quality LB soon.

I don't know what game you watched but we were very much the better team. We made Newcastle look a poor side and it's hard to believe they finished above us last season. Was their goal their only shot on target? Certainly they never remotely threatened to score again

Only the usual failing of not capitalising on overwhelming superiority stopped us winning

We need goals from midfield to beat even average teams like Newcastle but I can't see where they're coming from.

If we'd won by three goals it wouldn't have flattered us on the balance of play

Enrique is a very bad player and should be drop-kicked over the horizon. Their player just waltzed past him and crossed for the goal. He's a total liability. Thanks Kenny
