Well a back 3 is a traditional counter to a front two which it appears that Anzhi will be going with. Before the previous game it was said that it was their normal formation. It would make sense when picking a weakened team to chose a formation designed to negate the opponents strengths.

Exactly. I understand that decision from Rodgers, we're already top of the group IIRC and we have a huge game coming up on Sunday so dropping points this evening won't really matter. We'll likely batter Young Boys at Anfield and hopefully draw at Udinese so that should be enough to qualify I think.

Can someone explain to me ,why downing is given so much chances when other promising players are not giving half chances he got to "impress the world!!" else than with his price, especially when even with less than half chances ,some players showed much more than him in more than a season ... it's beyond my comprehension!!

i'm not saying sell him or throw him but just give little more chances to play to other players because if they don't play,they will never improve and all will be lost, downing himself first , young players/players we bought this year.. in brief LFC will lose points,money ...

It's not about giving Downing chances. It's more like hoping he does well so that we get a decent price for him in Jan. Moreover we have to rest Suso/Sterling so we need Downing to play.
