Late 70's/early 80's Liverpool vs current Barca

After listening to Keown and Reid collectively sucking Barcelona cock, it made me wonder- if you could create a level playing field, taking into consideration the balls used, rule changes etc- both had success in their respective leagues and dominated europe- how would that Liverpool team do against Present day Barca?
    In Klopp we trust.

I loved the mid/late 80's team. That team had so much flair. They along with Milan team of that era would certainly be a match for the current Barca team.
      We come not to play.

Actually I think Barca would beat us. :-(

The match they would lose would be against Brazil 1982 WC team IMO.

I think the Real Madrid team from last season would give those Liverpool teams a run for their money. They played some of the best stuff I've ever seen too.

Barcelona would win from seasons 2008-2009 and 2010-2011.

If the refereeing was 70's style we'd win at a canter.

It is nigh on impossible to compare imo. The difference in training and fitness as well as the quality of the pitches makes a huge difference.

I think we'd get nailed in all honesty. The game has changed so much. Players are now athletes as well as being footballers.

If you look at the worlds best players they're all athletes who happen to be very very good technically as footballers. Or vice versa.

It boils down to is Maradona better than Messi? The answer in my eyes is that you can't really answer it, you can give an opinion. Football has changed too much for anyone to be able to make a calculated comparison.

                          This

The fitness and training have had a significant effect on the game, todays games are much more physically demanding, in the 70's players could be out on the ale alot you'd never be able to do that (to the same extent) now.

Similarly the rule changes have changed the dynamic of the game significantly, if you refereed the 70's games under current rules no team would finish a game with 11 men.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
