My young lad has been imperious in his under 8 team, he's like Roy Keane is his pomp, he holds the midfield together, crunches into tackles all over the shop and when he's not playing they rarely do well

      We should sign him up

I think all we need is 2 strong quick wingers who can chip in with goals alongside suarez. I've said this before that if defenders have to start picking up goal threats from out wide there will be more space for suarez to destroy. And if defenders try to stop suarez playing then the wingers will have more space to attack in.

According to his own saying, this position as deep laying midfielder is what Sahin is used to play (only not with RM and LFC).

I don't think so. Brendan Rogers has said himself that there are no restrictions for Gerrard. He just don’t have the killer instinct anymore which is ok. 32 is a high age for someone who has to carry the team at CM. And he doesn’t have the skillset as Pirlo, does he? We desperately need someone like Cazorla at CM to create and even score at times. I can’t see what’s holding SG back from doing that at this stage - other than lack of power and skill. It is certainly not down to his position. He is given all the freedom he could ever ask for.

I marvel at the fact that so few are willing to see what is so evident. They keep saying that SG is still a quality player and maybe that's true but we need him to be a hell of a lot more than just decent. For 130.000K a week he simply has to be awesome. We need a player like 2006 Stevie that could handle everything you threw at him and more. A game changer. So few are willing to accept that he lost that ages ago. He needs to reach the level we saw against Everton last season often. He isn’t even close and that is a fact. People refuse to deal with it and turn to Allen and Lucas. These players are of course important but they don’t carry the team like SG did in the past and should now. What he had was rare – what they have is common.

This romantic approach to football (Keeping Stevie around even though he isn’t a shadow of what he used to be) - this lack of ruthlessness - symbolizes everything wrong with LFC today. At the same time it's also why we love the club, which just makes the whole thing even more annoying.

At this stage we can only sit and wait until our awesome Captain, that has given us so much the last decade, slowly smells the napalm in the morning and accepts the graceful transition from XI to the bench.

I have waited 22 years now - I'll wait 22 more if that's what it takes. Im just tired of seeing Scum run with the glory all the time.

Maybe so, but it's the single biggest issue right now. Imo. I dont know you but Im sure you have some points that you carry forward? Or are you just here to be an ass...?

I happen to agree that Gerrard is no longer the player he was and has not adapted to Rodgers tactics and the deeper role he has been playing.

He probably deserves to be benched.

Is it the single biggest issue in the team at the moment? Not for me. I think Allen's form is a problem and he needs to come out of the team. The whole midfield 3 is not functioning well at the moment and that is a worry for us moving forward.

                        Merry Christmas.

We need or the game needs a new Steve McMahon. Crunching tackles, an engine and an eye for goal.

So you have basically written off Stevie? Get him out now? I find that amazing I really do. At a time we need experience and our best footballers on the pitch to help these youngsters settle and make an impact in games you are telling me that SG should be out?

He may not be what he was but he still is a key player. The whole team has struggled and the problem is he is not superman anymore, so he cannot win it on his own for us like he has countless times before. But he can still make a vital contribution, and generallly whilst he has not been brilliant there have been at least 3 other midfielders who have been worse than him.

I hope to God he gets some of mojo back and answers all the doubters, and all those who have written him off.

I think that Allen has suffered from eratic passing. He was better the first 5 matches than he has been the last 5 - that's for sure. He offers too little forward and isn't that strong defensively. Lucas is better at the moment. For me the passes up field are crucial for a HM. That is what Alonso could do better than most. If they can clock in 3/5 goals and 5/7 assists then things start looking really good. When you look at the top 3 teams that is exactly what the quality HM's brings to the party. Allan is too much of a passenger as well. He must shine brighter. Some would say that scoring and assisting isn't the prime objective for these players and they would be right of course. But if you want to win it that is what's needed. Everybody must contribute.

I think the task in the center is close to impossible when you have so little creative outlead from the player next to you that is supposed to lift most of the weight. I think that is Allens biggest problem. He can't fill the shoes. He can't benifit from the fact that he has room to go futher up pitch because Gerrard is so deep so often. Neither can Lucas. So we look stale and predictable. Only Sterling, Suarez, Luis and Johnson has somthing extra that can brake the mould. The rest are passengers.

I think it is UTTERLY unfair to judge Allan or Lucas at CM when we consider the premises under which they are asked to function.

our midfield seem too worried about being out of position and look like they will get a nose bleed if they go too far up the pitch. once they give the ball up front they are too content that their job is done and the goals are solely the responsibility of the forwards.

we need support from midfield, goals from all areas of the pitch. a new souness, mcmahon type figure.
playing a middle three can mean we are so vulnerable to the counter that the midfielders are too reluctant to commit to getting on the edge of the box
