@StupidFootball: Stewart Downing has an assist AND a goal in the Premier League for Liverpool. Did the Mayans get their dates mixed up?

        Lucas is boss.
Or, just possibly, we made Fulham look bad. I know that seems outrageous but there must be a very slight chance that we actually played very well and deserved to win. There, I've said it.

Been on the piss with 2 bitters. The ****ing misery between them both as they spawned a victory over wet sham and we're warming up to 'sing the blues' made me piss myself!

He has hit his peak at the right time, ready to be shipped out next month.

On Downing: Was he ssshh the Kop or the people who have slated him? If I was him I'd be aiming it at those who have slated me. And let's not pretend the kop is full of saints. It has as many bell ends as any other stand in a footy ground. The abuse Lucas got was a disgrace.

For a club that has YNWA as its anthem, I find it very saddening when I see our own fans boo at the ground. Nothing wrong with slating players on a fans site if deserved, but at the ground? Nob heads.

On Coates: looks like a player who will suit La Liga or Seria A. He's not looked a premiership player. He lacks that grit and determination. As a defender in this league you have to run through a brick wall. He's not shown that. Look at Shawcross & Huth at Stoke. ****s, but they put there body on the line.

Downing looked a completely different player. I have no idea whether it is because he wants to impress future clubs or it's whether he wants to stay. Either way, excellent energy and creativity.

The whole team looked better in terms of shape, energy, their pressing, and it was badly needed after last weekend's horror show. Good response.
just curious if Allen's return will disrupt things

Much better, I'm happy to see we could effectively dispatch a team like that who is very poor away from home. Usually they give us problems, so to knock 4 by them is very pleasing. Hope we can build upon it, because there's been far too many draws in this kind of fixture over the last 3 seasons.

Congratulations to Downing who had his best game for Liverpool. It's no secret I strongly dislike him, and it's not even the goal or assist, he was just another level today. Running hard, closing down the ball, wanting to be involved. I still hold no hope for him as a Liverpool player, because every dog has their day, but hopefully it makes another team splash out for him.

                    On this game:

Clearly, to do well against Liverpool you have to press us in our third and attack with brutish force through the middle. Fulham were missing a host of midfielders and started with the lazy Berbatov up top. It showed.

If our CB's for one second think Walters will stroll around the pitch like Berba next week they'll be in for a shock.

As bad as they were though, we exploited their weaknesses. Great performance.

What a dic head. Is he for real ? two good games in a row and he thinks it's time to tell the Kop to shhhhh. If that's his mind set, he isn't ever going to be a consistent performer.

Good result but lets not get carried away with ourselves. Fulham are utterly abject away from home. We're only a week removed from getting pumped at home by an average at best Villa side.

Zapater: in fairness to Downing, he was good against West Ham and was many neutrals MOTM against Villa. So he has been improving. Enough to save him?

Well for me, attacking players need to assist & score. Until today he hasn't done those things. If he does it against Stoke & QPR as well, then it will get interesting. But as you say, for now they'll be no tears if he leaves. But fair play to him, he's going down fighting, just annoying he didn't do it sooner......

I was very pleased with Downing's performance. But the finger on the lips, WTF? He has had plenty of opportunities and it is HIS FAULT the fans have the opinion that he has been a flop, in fact it's not even an opinion: it's a fact. He had his destiny in his own hands and he blew it. Maybe there is time for redemption? He could still be an asset? Who knows, time will tell. But my opinion from the day we signed him will never change - he was a signing we should never have made.
