Yup, boys got mad skillz. If he can play 25-30 games next season then he will help us a win a trophy.

If (and it's a big if) Sturridge can stay fit for a prolonged period i think he'll be back to his frightening best.
I don't think the problem is that he has lost pace. I believe the problems were that he simply could not get to the desired level of fitness because there were constant niggles and injuries, preventing him from going a good number of games in succession. This then affects confidence levels and mentally he must always be thinking about the next injury.
7 or 8 successive games and a couple of goals in there, and I reckon we would see a player that opposing defenses will fear.

I totally agree about him playing with a partner. Most forwards over the years are best playing alongside someone. A dedicated striker scores goals on a regular basis. It's my one concern with packing the team with creativity but not having a regular scorer. We don't have a flat track bully ala Costa, Kane etc.Originally posted by Phoenix07 View PostThe encouraging thing with Klopp's quotes yesterday, were that he's after tactical flexibility. People forget that in 13/14, and the back end of last season, we played with a diamond. Sturridge always had a strike partner, and excelled. I don't like Sturridge playing up top on his own, and if we're doing that regularly, then no thanks.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

If Sturridge stays, surely this is last chance saloon? It's such a dilemma as everyone knows that if this chap was fully fit and didn't suffer from injury probelms... he would be worth 60 or 70m in the current transfer market.
We've all said it a million times, but if he could just sort out what is going on in the head or body ... what an asset he would be. He's a guaranteed 20 or 30 goal a season fully fit. Nice to see Klopp saying that he will probably change up the system as he was too rigid last season. Maybe he's been waiting on new recruits so he can have the option to switch it up.

As much as I'd love to see the Sturridge of old I think he's well past his best now. His pace has gone, his attitude is questionable and his fitness record is ****ing abysmal.
If he stays I hope he bangs them in but I agree that he could do with someone else up top with him. He can't hold the line on his own he doesn't have the strength or the fight imo.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Always, keep your face to the sun, and shadows will fall behind you.

I'd happily be proven wrong but I think this pretty much sums it up for me.

You can't state his attitude is questionable nor he doesn't have the 'fight', whatever that means, with any degree of certainty
He's obviously injured far too often, but he's a footballer. I very much doubt that he'd not play unless there was a valid reason.
I'll grant you the pace thing. He looked much quicker and sharper in previous seasons
If he's not sold, it's because we can't replace him for similar money and because the club think his injuries are behind him
I will retract this statement when he's sold or retiresI saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

or if he ever releases a statement saying that his heart was never really in playing football.
Modifying post.

think back to when studge had a 'new' injury and klopp was explaining about it at the press conference, klopp rolling his eyes, saying something about 'some sort of injury but we dont know what it is, or when it'll be better'
for all klopps talk about keeping daniel blah blah, he'd **** him right off if he could.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I think Rich has a good point, if Klopp was pissed off with Sturridge he would just cold shoulder him and remove him from the squad like he did with Sakho. No hesitation.
I think that the 'rolling of the eyes' is more out of frustration. Klopp has given Sturridge game time when he has been fit.
I remember in one press conference Klopp made some kind of comment about playing through the pain.
Maybe Klopp feels that sometimes the injuries Sturridge has are little niggly things that he should play through but doesn't.
Unless we get a really good offer or have an opportunity to replace him with someone just as clinical I don't think we will sell him.
A fit Sturridge is probably a £50m plus player in today's market. He's not easy to replace.
