The Football Association have announced Daniel Sturridge will not be fit for England's World Cup qualifier with Ukraine on Tuesday.

The Liverpool striker missed Friday's win over Moldova after returning to Melwood to undergo treatment on a thigh injury.

England had hoped to include Sturridge in the travelling party for the trip to Ukraine, but he'll instead now remain on Merseyside.

An FA statement read: "The FA can confirm that Daniel Sturridge will not return to the England squad ahead of the World Cup qualifier with Ukraine on Tuesday.

"Club England medical staff have been in constant contact with their counterparts at Liverpool Football Club since he returned there on Thursday, his injury has not progressed as had been hoped and it is now clear that Sturridge will not be fit for the match in Kiev on Tuesday evening.

"No additions will be made to Roy Hodgson's squad of 23 players who travel to Ukraine on Sunday evening."

His injuries are a massive worry though.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

        I agree,that's why I don't understand why we didn't buy a backup striker for Sturridge/Suarez...
        Do the Sturridge!

In a pinch Alberto could play upfront as well since he played as a #9 and false 9 in Barca B. But I hope it doesn't come down to that.

Was always the danger when we didn't get another striker in. Hopefully Sturridge can make a recovery.

England injuries and club injuries always to me seem like different things. I'm sure he'll play against Swansea.
                Oh I don't know.

Yup, I'm sure he'll play too. Plus it is a Monday night game so will give him that little bit longer to recover than if we played Saturday

Does anyone know if he's gone on loan somewhere?

I think he still is. Rushing him back at that age could only mean complications in the future!

I think he's having his lunch. Might be out later though.

Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."
