Daniel Sturridge has suffered another injury setback after straining a thigh in training. Story to follow …
Daniel Sturridge’s return delayed by recurrence of thigh injury

Liverpool hopes of revitalising their season have suffered a major blow after Daniel Sturridge broke down in training once again, raising fears that Brendan Rodgers is facing another spell without the injury plagued forward who has not played for his club since August.
Sturridge pulled out of a training session at Melwood with what is believed to be a thigh strain, a similar injury to the one he sustained on September 5 while he was on international duty with England. Liverpool will assess the damage over the next 48 hours but it already seems highly doubtful that the 25-year-old will be able to make his long awaited comeback against Crystal Palace on Sunday as planned.
Sturridge has been sidelined for the past ten weeks after picking up a calf strain immediately after recovering from the initial thigh problem that prompted Rodgers to question England’s training methods. Liverpool have struggled in his absence, scoring only eight league goals and slumping to eleventh place in the Barclays Premier League.
Rodgers has searched in vain to form an attack that is capable of filling the void left not only by Sturridge but also Luis Suárez, who joined Barcelona at the end of last season. The Liverpool manager has turned to Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini, but they are yet to score a single goal between them in 888 minutes of Premier League action.
Balotelli maintains that he is not a lone front man and although Rodgers continues to have reservations about the Italy international’s suitability to the style of play he wants to implement, he was hopeful that Sturridge’s return could lead to the formation of a promising partnership.
Those plans could now be on hold with the timing of Sturridge’s latest setback being of particular concern because it comes just a week before Liverpool face Ludogorets in Sofia, a game which they must win to retain their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Sturridge believes the cause of his ongoing injury problems is hereditary and has admitted that his speed makes him vulnerable to breaking down.
****ing hell, we need to get someone else in now in Jan. Taking the piss this is.
I think Sturridge is under pressure from the fans and as soon as he thinks about what he has to do his groin just goes from the mental pressure. He doesn't actually need to be doing any physical work it just goes.
Oh and Pabs, why do they call you fake Pablo?
