Daniel Sturridge has declared himself “fit and ready to go” as he prepares to make his Liverpool FC comeback.

The Reds striker returned to full training on Tuesday - a month after suffering a knee injury which has forced him to sit out the past seven matches.

Boss Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to rush Sturridge back into action at Manchester City on Saturday but Sturridge says he’s desperate to help spearhead Liverpool’s pursuit of glory under the new manager,

Speaking at the launch of the Liverpool FC Signature Collection at the city’s Titanic Hotel, Sturridge said: “I’m fit and ready to go and it’s going to be a great time for me.

“It’s been great under the new manager. I’ve been back training for the past couple of days and I was training when he first arrived.

“It’s an exciting time to be at the club and I’m enjoying working with him and the style of football. It’s important for us to understand what he wants us to do.”

Liverpool head for the Etihad sitting in 10th place - seven points adrift of the top four - but Sturridge is optimistic about the months ahead.

“I was on the outside but it was great to see the boys win at Chelsea,” he added.

“We had a disappointing result last time out against Palace but it’s important to move on.

“The Premier League is the best league in the world in terms of competitiveness. There are teams up there this season you wouldn’t have expected.

“It’s up for grabs this season, there isn’t a real favourite. It will come down to who can be the most consistent.”

Can't wait to see him back. He is the cutting edge we miss so much - let's hope the injuries haven't blunted him any.

Klopp on Sturridge: “He has to train now, that’s for sure. Four and a half weeks, he couldn’t train. No cycling or running. Maybe we should. But first of all, five years contract, everyone wants to see more of him but we have to find the right balance and we’ll see.”

By far our best finisher. If he stays fit we can finish top 4. He's such a massive difference to the squad.

Great finisher and scores all kinds of different goals. Far and away the most threatening player in the squad.

John W Henry has had 8 more Birthdays than Daniel's made appearances for LFC.

                                A bit random I know.

Saying that, he's made far more appearances than Justin Beiber's had Birthdays, so it evens itself out.
