Its annoying but not entirely unexpected. He isn't capable of playing regular top flight football so we need to keep him on the bench and bring on if needed. The biggest problem we have is that his replacement benteke doesn't fit the style at all but who will get goals for the team.

The real shame is that Danny ings got injured just as he was looking really good because he will give you something different up front.

I'd still keep him around as even just 10-15 games a season he'd probably earn his wages plus not gonna complain about him with some of the wages elsewhere that go to waste every year (ie Balotelli and the million loans we always have) but we need to build without him and just consider his appearances a bonus really. It's just tormenting now, get's fit, destroys someone ie Villa or Southampton then goes again, urgh.

Yep. Id bet we are paying the wages of more players who dont actually play for us than the total of Sturridge's wage packet. Wages never really bother me anyway as I dont really hold much interest in how much one millionaire earns over another millionaire.

Keep him around for the 15 or so games he will make an impact as a luxury.

What can we actually do? I mean he has a contract so we can't just force him into a new pay-as-you-play one. We can't really just force him to play regardless of little knocks. And can we afford to send him into rehab till the end of the season and hope he's ok for next year?

Nothing we can do, it's beyond hopeless, Klopp must plan ahead without Sturridge. A striker must be top priority, shocking when you consider we have Sturridge, Benteke, Balotelli, Origi and Ings on the books.

I love Klopp and the start he's made but Rodgers would have been slaughtered for
1. Dropping Origi after a hat trick and
2. Including Sturridge for his 2nd game in 4 days after best part of a year out injured.

If Benteke was going to start (as he obviously did) then just leave Sturridge out, ease him back in by either letting him train and rest before another 60 mins at Sion or leave him out of that as well to allow 10 days training before starting v West Brom.

It's amateur from the club, every single player who is out for a long period of time are more susceptible to muscle injuries as the body builds up strength and resistance.

Biggest problem with Sturridge is we're so desperate for him to play he isn't allowed to build up his workload gradually to give him a chance of staying fit.
The club are letting him down, of course Sturridge is fragile but so have been loads of footballers before him, it's almost as though Klopp and his staff bought the mentally weak bollocks and included him to make a point, similar to forcing Owen back early from injuries back in the day.
