Of course stuff such as this always hinges on being able to get at least as decent replacements, but I'd sell and reinvest:

Carroll - not for this system - 10-15m
Spearing - Championship written all over him - 1-3m
Pacheco - will never make it sadly - 2-3m
Assaidi - if he doesn't get game time might as well sell him - 4-5m??
Coates - same as above, if not sold already - 7m seems to be touted
Wilson - same as above, might leave room for him if Coates is sold - 5m?

Totally something like 25-37m plus minus some.

I would besides Assaidi, keep the players signed this season, they need more time IMO. The only thing it depends on is getting other backup. Say Coates and Wilson leaves, then we are looking really thin in the CB department. Well that's probably the main area I guess

I'd agree with that list of players as well, I guess it all comes down to who we can get in as replacements but that list offers pretty much nothing in terms of our squad.

Slight change to the title but this is who I wouldn't be bothered by if they left, clearly presuming that we replaced with better/more suitable to our system.

        Reina
        Jones
        Doni
        Skrtel
        Coates
        Enrique
        Carroll
        Spearing
        Pacheco
        Downing
        Assaidi.

Bit of a mish mash tbh, if (for example) Assaidi and Coates aren't going to play then sell them, on the other hand players like Reina and Skrtel to name 2 have been in the spine of the side that consistantly under performs.
I don't think either of them are 100% comitted and they've both played a lot better, both massive earners as well.
Reina starting to miss more games with injury and Skrtel can't defend 1 on 1, which when the system has 2 attacking full backs is a massive problem.

I'm no fan of Ayre but what he does deserve credit for is signing 'unsettled' senior players up on longer contracts, I'm 100% convinced both Reina and Skrtel will look to leave in the summer, if they do then we should get minimum 25-30m for the pair because of their contracts.

Now if we can't replace with hungrier, better players with that money then we really do need shooting, or the scouting team need sacking.
        Whichever is cheaper.

In total that lot should raise a conservative £55mill, add another £20mill for a yearly transfer budget and we could improve significantly.

We won't mind you as we'll **** it up again.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

IF Skrtel and Reina leave in the summer, plus the obvious departures that everyone has mentioned like Carroll and Downing, we could be looking at a fortune raised through sales.

          Downing £8m + Carroll £10m + Skrtel £15m + Reina £15m + other bits and bobs is around £50m.

Lots of upheaval there but a fair whack coming in.

That's my major concern tbh; that we make to much of an upheaval and leave the team without consistency at any department, which normally is a terrible idea. That would leave us the first 3-4 months of a season playing together a new team (again), which I doubt will benefit us right now.

I reckon Reina is going to leave which is okay, but if say Skrtel left at the same time we would really have a though time getting the defence organized for a while. I hope we leave it to selling the players on the fringe this season + max. 1 staring 11 player so we have enough rotation that knows the system and can walk in to the team quicker.

I would like to see Coates loaned to Leverkusen. Sami is doing well and Coates would surely develop a lot playing for him. I reckon Palace (if they are promoted) would be good for the development of Shelvey as he thrived under Ollie before. Watford or Brighton could do the same for Suso?
              Never knowingly optimistic

                Out
                Downing
                Carroll
                Spearing
                Coates
                Pacheco
                Jones
                Doni
                Assaidi
                Wilson

                Loan out
                Suso
                Robinson
                Flanagan
                Shelvey

                In
Leftback to go straight into the first team
Centreback again straight into the first team pushing Skrtel to the subs bench
Defensive Mid as backup to Lucas
Goalkeeper to go on the bench
Plus another to compete for the wide forward positions

I'd also think about letting Reina and Skrtel go, but only if we got decent offers and top quality replacements.

Wilson will be out of contract in 6 months and will be released.

Hmm, shame, should think we could have gotten a bit of money for a young international... We will be left short of options at CB next season, and it has to be a priority.

I'd be looking for a bit more than backup to Lucas. His rehabilitation is going to take a long time and there is no guarantee that he will reach the levels he did before the injuries.

A strong defensive midfielder to challenge for position, and to act as a sensible alternative to Lucas for rotation should be the absolute priority.

                        to be sold-

carroll - (i would be so very shocked if a team would pay more then 13 mill, he is ****e.

spearing - he will go, he is a championship player its clear, would get around 2 mill at most.

wilson, - ****e bag of a player never should have been signed, he is out of contract, so will be let go, i hope so anyway!!

doni gk, clearly had enough of this clown, has not givern anything back to this club, looke dok at the start and yet another stupid deal buy the club to bring him in, crap and will be let go for free if need be.

brad jones, gk, not ggood enough new contract or not, not what we need and have teh club just put him on a new contract so they can then sell him, might be?

coates, just not good enough, for me id like to give him time, but we cant keep giving everything time, this clubs needs to win and win now, sell him and id be happy with 5- 7 mill, we paid 7 mill but cant see us getting that, more like 5- 6 mill at the most.

downing, enough is enough, people telling me he has had good games, so what he has had about 5 -7 good games at best and he give sthis club very littel, see steve nicols comments on thsi clown of a player, id sell him tomorrow of anything close to 8- 9 mill, he is so average its crazy.

pacheco - like the kid, he has a great attitude, great in reserve footie and etc but just cant seem to make this break through, how many more loand deals is this kid going to have? cant keep staying here on loand and then back and fourth to the reserve's can he? we would sell but will not get more then 1. 5 - 2. mill for him.

loan out - flanagan, robinson, suso, shelvey, wisdom,

You're probably right. I just have a, probably misguided, hope that Lucas will get back to his best next season.

I'm intrigued by the notion that we'd sell / loan up to a dozen players, and apparently replace them with about four new signings. Let's hope that we don't have any injuries because we'll be struggling to put out a full match day squad even if all of the remaining players are fit.

I also think that selling Downing at this point is a bit precipitous. He's finding his best form so far for us, and if we try to force a sale, we'll be lucky to get £5-6m for him. We have to forget what was paid for him, and think about his current value. Could we really buy someone for that money who would do a better job right now, especially with agents' fees and so forth on top? He's obviously never going to be a £20m player, but if he chips in with as many goals and assists as he did for Villa, then he would be a valuable squad member.

Apart from getting rid of those players who are have already effectively moved on (Spearing, Wilson, Doni) I'd sell Carroll provided that we got at least £15m for him, Coates (he just doesn't seem cut out for the speed of this league) and the very likeable but ultimately too rubbish Brad Jones. As Darkon said, we'd need a new centre back (hence the links to Ashley Williams), a back up for Lucas, and another striking option.

we're not going to be undertaking wholse sale changes again and quite honestly we don't really need to.

Those on loan such as Carroll or Spearing will no doubt go as they offer nothing to the squad but from the actual squad itself you'd say probably only Coates will definately be off and seeing as he can't get a kick Assaidi.

If we can get those 3 out and replace them with players that actually help the squad depth then all good.

                                please tell me why
carroll, spearing, wilson, doni, jones, pacehco would still need to be at the club past this summer! none of which are in the managers plans, only jones is here because doni has gone walk abot and reina is the best we have!

all above need to go and there are doing what for the club? they are all and have been out on loan.

add to that coates, he has to go, there are better center backs out there and with these owners are most likley going to need to cash to help in bringing in another player, id sell coates too, he has not or not been in the boss's plans so why stay around?

downing is pants for the money we pay him, why would he stay, we could get ok money for her so we should sell, there are better wingers as squad players out there then her.
