He's a confidence player that has the ability to tear teams apart but in a team like we currently have he's struggling badly and nothing is coming off plus nobody has a clue what bat **** formation and team selection Rodgers is likely to pick so it's hard to develop continuity and anticipate patterns of play or runs. I admit though he is currently playing ****Kurtangled in the McFadden thread 16/01/08

He's great. Even the best player in the world couldn't function in our system. If we ever fix this mess we'll need him and he'll be mega.
And given that no one in the team seems to be tracking runners OR keeping much possession at the minute id hardly single him out for itA lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

In fairness picking 3 players who played well was no easy taskOriginally posted by danperkins View PostSeen a few people have him in their MOM top 3. Thought he was absolutely dreadful today. Nothing showing his talent and his work rate is ****e... infuriated how many times he gives away posession. The excuses of no movement ahead him is getting a wee bit tedious.
Needs to do better.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Well mate, that is where I fundamentally disagree with you. The best players adapt, they find a way of showing their quality. We have our backs to the wall, and when you are cornered your tigers come out fighting. This lightweight offers zip, he certainly is not a number ten fit for a team like Liverpool.Originally posted by Rowan View PostHe's great. I just think that the lad clearly has so much talent and is still so young that this little patch is just a rather offy part of his development. He's not a Ronaldo or Suarez that will carry a woeful team on his own willpower alone but as a part of a more effective unit (even one with 3 working parts would be luxury at the minute) he'll go back to the deadly scamp that he can be.Originally posted by Tee View PostWell mate, that is where I fundamentally disagree with you. Carra on Coutinho for the goal:
‘What Coutinho does on the edge of the box is unforgivable,’ Carragher said
‘It is lazy but from Manchester United’s point of view it is a great goal. Another problem is that Gerrard is left on his own at the edge of the box.
‘It is unforgivable, lazy and weak.’

People forget during last season when he would run players down, especially in the Arsenal game, squaring up to players like a little crazy person. This season he's a shell because our entire team is pure ****. I liken it to Alonso. Was great and then had a dip during the amazingly handled benitez period. People said he was **** and wanted him out. Goes to Madrid, becomes an amazing player almost instantly. You put quality around Coutinho and he'll give you plenty of attacking options.

Nah I'm not having that.
Yes Coutinho will look a better player when Sturridge is fit, yes he'll have more options if Sterling (or even Borini) played upfront but you can't say it's everyone else's fault that he isn't playing well.
The absolute minimum Coutinho should be producing every time he plays is that work rate, that desire to win the ball back, strength in the tackle, all the 'other' side of football which earns the right to play the pretty stuff.
He isn't doing that and that is down to him, no-one else.
Then factor in his non existent end product and you have a MoTD footballer, someone who looks good on clips and highlights but actually offers nowhere near enough over the 90 minutes. The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.
