Top players want to play for top teams and if you are not one it doesn't matter who is a manager.
If you don't win trophies and play in the CL then the big egos will start to moan. Not even Mourinho could stop that happening.

So why did FSG sign up a manager that first needed at least one season to learn the job himself and at least last season plus this one as building seasons. It is really only his third season that you can expect results.

Instead they could have signed up someone like Van Gaal or Rafa that didn't need to learn the job and needed most probably max one building season.

I won't be surprised if Coutinho leaves after this season if we miss out on the top four.

Last summer we needed someone that could improve our results as quickly as possible. Short term was more important than long term.

It is more about FSG than Rodgers. They are also learning and it cost us big time.

We wont know if their method works this time for a couple of years but we do know that the last 6 managers failed to bring us the league. We've tried winners from other leagues, appointments from within, past managers and an old codger so why not a young man with a vision? Had Rafael won the league anywhere else prior to winning it with Valencia?

I think us bringing in young players like Coutinho will pay dividends for us if we continue to get it right. The lad is clearly a very talented footballer and if we use him as an example it's great to see us being smart and looking for talent like him that perhaps hadn't fulfilled their potential at their current clubs.

As long as he continues to develop and enjoys his football with us he could be the nucleus for our attacking play for a number of years.

He does need to bring back the soul glo look though

I disagree. He needs us more than we need him atm.

He needs to prove that he is more than just good talent and that takes time.

i dont like to see this much negativity in the coutinho thread.

he is surely one of the brightest things to happen at our club for many years, and his potential with us is still massive.

removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Agree his star fell at Inter where huge things were expected of him,now at lfc we are seeing his potential and i think he for one wouldn't jump ship so soon,if anything this lad looks level headed and sensible

we need to make sure that as well as being a good player/potential we are also looking at the character of the guy.
we dont need to spunk cash on whore mongering, drunken coke heads.
