I really loved his movement and the burst of pace during his goal.

looks really sharp at linking the play in the final third, holds on to the ball well and goes past players well.
any evidence he can tackle or is he just a non contact ball interceptor.

He constantly keeps the ball moving forwards towards the opposition goal. So many times we play the ball backwards and have to build the attack again he could speed the attack up and create space for Suarez and Sturridge.

I don't think ou need super upper body strength if you have great balance and technique and Coutinho seems to have other in abundance.

Was George Best or Steve McManaman particularly blessed in the strength department?

I'm really excited about this one as these kind of signings allow us to retain possession further up the pitch and allow us to press higher.

            Bump.

Our 20-year-old Brazillian forward from Inter who we signed only a week ago has already had his 'Welcome' thread drop to page two.

Has he returned back to Liverpool yet?

No, neither him or Lucas got called up.

Excellent, both need to spend the week at home, at Melwood.

Hope Lucas doesn't pay the price for Menezes sacking, having been a favourite of his.

I don't think his current performances justify a call-up to be honest. You'll always find enough quality players in Brazil that'll prevent someone from staying in the squad because of past merits :/

                          He was excellent yesterday.

You always say he's excellent though.

I have total faith in Lucas; barring another injury, playing his way back into the consistent form we're used to from him.

He's learning to trust his body again is all imo, once he does, he'll play his natural football again, he was out for a good while and sub-conciously something like that can make you play within yourself, maybe even pre-occupy the mind at times and have the effect of inhibiting your game.

edit: Could be that he just had a run of bad'ish form totally unrelated to the above of course.

If he doesn’t get picked on merit, that’s fair enough, but Menezes was criticized for being too defensive so if Lucas loses his place to a more flamboyant midfielder just to keep the fans and/or the president happy then that would be a real shame.

If he gets back to anywhere near the form he was showed pre-injury then he should certainly be in the squad.
