good start but not getting carried away! The Joe Allen effect makes me wary of that. I thought he was going to be fantastic, not saying he can't get back on track but he started almost perfectly.

Allen was asked to play as an out and out holding midfielder and that wasn't fair on him as that doesn't play to his strengths.

There is not playing to your strengths though and being caught on the ball after standing still with it for 5 seconds, every single game. His confidence was shot for some reason and his form went from brilliant to abysmal.

He did play well yesterday after his first pass went 10 yards straight to a Tottenham player it was a strange pass that one. His 50/50 with Dawson was brilliants, came out with the ball at his feet still moving forwards.

His ability to thread a though ball from almost anywhere on the pitch is going to be absolutely priceless.

With the pace of Suarez and Sturridge, and their ability to make intelligent runs in behind defences I can see lots of assists for Phil before the season ends!
