I think Remy, Lallana, Markovic and Lambert seem like significant additions in terms of goal scoring. Between them I think that over a season they could add the goals that replace Suarez's contribution.Originally posted by SB View PostNo Dave but we need someone to get another 15-20 to replace Suarez's 30 goals IMO.
In the past we have often only had one or two goals scoring threats in the team/squad, now we have far more even if we would struggle to get more than 4 in the same team."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I read something pretty startling the other day (albeit on Twitter).
In Rodgers time here (although I think this was specific to PL games), substitutes have only contributed 6 goals and 4 assists.
That is shocking and just shows what poor squad depth we have had.
Being able to bring on the likes of Lambert, Remy, Lallana, Markovic etc should do a lot to improve those stats you'd hope.

Is it really? Last season in particular we didn't make that many substitutes, we mainly stuck with the same core of players, and most games when we did we did so from a winning position and didn't need any more goals.Originally posted by Reece View PostI read something pretty startling the other day (albeit on Twitter).

Don't get me me, it is quite low, but not that surprising IMO.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Well to me it was as I'd not really given it much though, so it took me by surprise.Originally posted by RedReet View PostIs it really? I have no doubt that we've strengthened our squad no end.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostLast season we had a striker on the bench who scored zero premier league goals - Aspas. Think I'm right in saying Luis Alberto scored zero, Moses can't have got more than a couple.
Now let's say
Remy - Suarez
Lambert - Aspas
Markovic - Moses
Lallana - Luis Alberto
Could those 4 get 30+ between them in the league? I think they wouldn't be too far off. And then we could say that Sturridge May bag more if he's played as the main man every game. Sterling could get more as he'll have a full season to prove himself, he didn't really get going until mid season last year.
Clearly we can't replace Suarez, but if our "reserve" players contribute more this season, we could make up some of the short fall. Goes without saying that I'm also hoping we concede less this season. A 1-0 win instead of a 4-3 or 6-3 won't bother me too much tbh. Same points.
Daves point was we don't need another striker to replace Suarez. I disagree as IMO we do need 2 strikers capable of 15-20 goals & someone who can lead the line if Sturridge is out injured. It's great to have goal threats on the bench & in midfield but we still need 2 excellent strikers for what will be a big season.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Ok so we have replaced Suarez with Remy which is like for like & that's what I wanted. I doubt anyone is going to score ~30 goals again in a hurry but Remy should be good for around the 15 mark which is what a decent striker who plays regular in an attacking side should be gettingOriginally posted by dww View PostI think Remy, Lallana, Markovic and Lambert seem like significant additions in terms of goal scoring.
