If we were to sell him, it'd be new levels of stupid if we didn't recruit new players first. If we dont the fees will just get jacked up as Barcelona are experiencing. So no, the waiting is certainly not pointless in that context.

We won't mate. IF he goes (big if), he will go way before and we will have a replacement. It's very unlikely he will leave this season.
