It does. Would have thought something closer to the Mbappe fee that PSG will be paying would be closer the mark.

The 40 or so million in add ons bit I am fine with, as long as they are achieveable add ons, but the initial fee should be closer the 140m mark.

In a way it is mad that we are saing that 105m initially is not enough, but such is the current market and importance of player.

If we 'only' get £105m upfront it makes the Van Djik price look even steeper. Hopefully the extra payments are easily achievable otherwise we'll have had our kecks pulled down.

Less than 100 million sterling guaranteed is a joke. Risking missing out on CL would cost us 50 million plus becoming unattractive to targets. Joke of a deal.

Neil on TAW came out with an interesting point yesterday, obviously paraphrasing, but he said he thinks that the Coutinho injury/refusal to play is a tactic to drive the price down and get us to accept a lower offer. Almost as if they're saying - what's Coutinho playing in January worth to you?

I'd be very surprised if we sold him in January though.

            Have we accepted this deal?
            Really?

It is only the alleged figure being banded about that we are debating. Afaik no official bid has been made

They also bought Nelson, Paulinho and Deulofeu, alongside Dembele.

£500million projected costs to redevelop. Messi's new contract.

It may explain why the low initial fee is being offered.

Everything else Barca are doing is trying to get the price lowered, because they can't afford much more.

Indeed. Anyone comes for Hazard, De Gea or De Bruyne this window and they get laughed out of London/Manchester. Even with my "superfan" status this can't be spun any other way than absolutely **** for us. And it's a massive kick in the balls that while we spend loads on planes, trains, tickets etc the club are seemingly willing to give up on a legit shot at the CL. I mean really, can this not wait 5 ****ing months?!

If they don't offer what we value him at he won't be sold - simples.

Indeed. He's only going to knuckle down and play for so long, and only with the prospect of ultimately getting what he wants. I'd rather have a player or two who want to play for us and who klopp wants than keep Coutinho and have it hanging over us for another seven months minimum. His judgement on defenders may be questioned but when it comes to building an attack, klopp knows what he's doing, he will make it work, I have zero doubt about that. How it 'makes us look' is of zero concern.

Isn't that the Dembele cost, not the coutinho deal?

He wants to go, they are willing to pay so he will go. It's happening, accept it and move on.

                              Yep

                              Article is pretty vague

Total offer will be in excess of €150m (€150,000,001 )

Initial fee will eclipse the €105m United paid for Pogba (€105,000,001 )

They will give us €40m in add ons

                                Hang on

Surely you only let him go if they meet our valuation (which I dont think they have come anywhere near so far)

This is all about them paying to get the man they want, not us getting ****ed over on any deal just to satisfy the whims of the player and Barcelona
