He wouldn't even have played a single game in January if he was still here

If he had not moved to Barca, then he would probably still have been "injured" for the City gameI don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Do you think developing a skillset ranks above nurturing of talent? What I mean is that Coutinho had the skills as this is obvious from the videos of him as a kid but he wasn't able to display that on the bigger stage until he came here. At Melwood are they teaching facets of the game to players or helping them continue with what they already possessOriginally posted by pezzzer View PostOn another note it's seriously good money for a player who was going nowhere at Inter and testament to how great Melwood can be at bringing players on

I don't understand why we gave in now and didn't put the foot down till the summer but in saying that who knows what promises were made or the personal side of things in terms of squad morale etc etc, which is obviously as much part of the. Managers job as the football side of things is.
With him I was confident the squad had a serious chance to win the champions league.
Without him, I still think we have a chance. Watching Virgil absolutely dominate aerially on Friday was great and I still reckon the quality is there to be able to beat any team on the planet.
Like any team though we will need a bit of luck with injuries for the season run in.
Not sure we should rush out and try and replace him. I'd rather the club took its time as I think the combination of traits Coutinho had are pretty rare, he could control the tempo of a game or start something from nothing when just near the halfway line, his quick turn of pace and agility and his dribbling will be particularly missed.
One player who has a lot of these traits is Lallana, admittedly not in exactly the same way or to the same level of quality but he's still a great player if he can get properly match fit again.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

Too true mate, When I was a kid & Keegan left for Hamburg I thought the world had ended. Next season this Dalglish bloke turned up & we all know how that turned out.Originally posted by pezzzer View PostThanks for the memories Phil and it was wonderful seeing you grow from a young talented teenager to a world-class midfielder. I get he's had his head turned by Barca and as a South American it's a dream move but it still feels like a kick in the teeth the way it's been done by him and them.
I like JCs words on when a star player leaves in this way as he tells them there were better players before he came and there will be better players when he's gone, **** off.
