Still had a very decent chance at the death plus we got into good positions after Sturridge who went off.

Cant argue with that, hopefully Sturridge develops further .

Dropping Gerrard for Wilshere is a bit premature though surely.

Suso had his chance at the start of the season, and to be honest, he didn't take it. Looked good in the Europa through the middle, but looked poor on the flank.

On tonight, I was surprised we didn't throw Sterling or Borini on late on to grab a late goal. Many players looked knackered late on, one of those and Shelvey or Allen coming on could have stretched Arsenal.

Agger didn't lose Giroud, he just misjudged the flight of the ball.

Maybe that's a bit of a reaction to the game tonight but I really like Wilshere and I find it hard to justify him not getting into our midfield.

At the moment we're still struggling to find our identity, Arsenal were relentless in the 2nd half, hungry to win the ball back, neat and tidy around the 18 yard box and we couldn't deal with it.

Which is a mistake.. That cost us a goal, again.

I didn't say I agreed. I said that is the opinion of many.

Me personally? I think Downing is a much better player than Suso at this point in time. Downing was quiet at the start if the season and rightly, Rodgers gave someone else a chance. But Stewart got us head down, worked hard and didn't complain. Crucially, the player ahead if him did nothing.

Then as we signed Danny, it coincided with Sterling losing form. So lucky Stewie I guess. But he's in on merit for me.

Yes it was. And yes it's cost us. But he won't match Giroud in the air, he knows this and he's gambled. He either has to put him off or get in front of Giroud.

It wasn't the balls in the air that troubled us but the absence of Lucas in the heart of our midfield. The amounts of time Ramsay/Wilshere/Cazorla just picked the ball up and walked, not even ran, to our penalty area was eye-watering.

But these are vital games for him and hopefully Lucas is getting back to full form. We'll need him by the close of season. Just wasn't at the races today, ironically Gerrard was doing the donkey's work.

I'm not sure why he wouldn't be able to match Giroud to be honest. Either way, it was a bad one.

IMO Downing is primarily used to help out Wisdom on the right flank ?? If Suso or Sterling had started on the right tonight we would have conceded more than 2 I'd guess.

If Enrique and Johnson can both stay fit we'll probably see less of Stewie.

I'd say you're probably right there.

                              Because Giroud is taller?

Downing was not our biggest problem tonight.

Loose in middle in second half and defense was scattered.
