    Width

wtf has happened to the optimism of us having thought we had genuine width this season, and I don't mean width as in giving our goal area a wide berth for the opposition to walk in goals right through the middle, I mean line hugging, man beating, chalkine wingers, banging in the crosses width!

Do we have to wait a whole year for all the signings to gel and give us back the feeling of being optimistic about this is our season etc, or were there too many signings in the end, and now no-one is really sure what they are supposed to do and who is going to be in front of them, behind them or aside them? All lacking in confidence of knowing who is going to be where for them, no-one wanting the ball in the end, as they know there will be no automatic outlet for them.

And the killer is rotation, too much rotation in the end, and a more settled, more balanced side would be a start to getting things right, do the basics right, get the spine right, the rest will simply follow.

Whats happened is the players we bought are turning out to be pants. Not much to do with rotation that.

Gonzalez has shown promise at times.

But everybody in their heart of hearts knew Pennant was ****.

I never thought I'd say this; but bring back Kewell.

I was always certain about Bellamy.

I thought that Rafa might be able to get something out of Pennant, mainly because he did perform very well at times with his past clubs. But of course that in no way makes him LFC standard.

If you shop for wingers at the 1 pound store you will end up being disappointed.

Dejavu lads. Rafa squandered a massive transfer kitty in the summer. Not one of Speed, Bellamy or Pennant has worked out and these were the fast, wide and flair players that we needed to kick on from last season. I can't see the board sanctioning much more spending in January with the precarious position we are in at the moment.

I remember that and agreed with you at the time. Pennant started pre-season looking OK but has gone downhill rapidly...and Bellamy is , well...... Bellamy.

My only hope was Speedy, but he doesn't look to have settled, and Aurelio hasn't pulled up any trees.

well aurelio was free, and gonzo actually signed last season for only a portion of what bells and pennant, so i think those two are the main issue, also thin gonzo will come good...

I really think the judgement of the new signings is premature. Look at the established players this season - how many of them would you have accepted if they had just been bought in. Carra, Gerrard, Alonso and Hyypia have all had poor seasons and Gerrard in particular had a bad game today. We need to re-establish a team pattern and it's absence is due to a number of factors but you really can't expect all new signings to fit into a different style of play instantly, especially when the core of the team which has been playing together in the same way for two years are incapable of doing well this season.
