I think he's testing Skrtel. Up to him if he responds.
    Forwards.......

Think I read we've kept 11 clean sheets this season, 2nd to Man City who have 12.
Maybe we arent as bad defensively as we all think!
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Know much more about Amorebieta who while he'll never be a world beater is usually rock solid, aggressive, comfortable in a team who play out from the back....just the type or CB we need IMO. Isn't he out of contract this summer?
His Europa League final against Atletico Madrid last season was one of the worst defensive performances I've seen in my life, Mauricio Pellegrino on a wheelchair would have done a better job... Although that was one game, can't say I've seen a lot of him besides that one.

Rafa will be gutted when he sees that table. Done by Fat ****ing Sam. I suppose we can only get better.

Averaging one every game - I wonder if it is a concentration thing.

Unlike other teams that have been naive as a defensive unit, we've just made ridiculous unforced errors. Take half of them out and we'd be up the table. Obviously set pieces was also our achilles heel for a while.

Sorting out or defending is more about how we press as a team and maintain positional discipline than it is about signing defenders in the summer.

I tend to disagree but not entirely, although the foundations of pressing a team to make errors needs a little work, we still have to replace at least one defender in Jamie Carragher. Also then we will need one as a backup, and if Skrtel was to leave then that leaves us having to replace him too.

Then, once we have the new boy(s) in, we can work on the pressing and positional discipline.

I agree that Carragher will need to be replaced and it is important to make the right signings but Johnson/Skrtel/Agger/Enrique are not bad players. If we replaced each one with a better player our defending wouldn't improve that much unless we also sorted out how the other six players in front of them play when the opposition have the ball.

I see what you're saying, and you're correct, just because we replaced one defender with someone who is classed at better than his predecessor, doesn't mean that we will defend better.

However what I was trying to point out was that in order for the others to work on the defensive side of their game, they will need to know who is playing behind them, their strengths and weaknesses etc. Therefore we can't really progress until replacements have been found.
