Why haven't we won the league for so long..?

Why have we not won the league for so long?

Q: Have we got/had capable managers?
Q: Have we spent enough money?
Q: Have we had enough quality in the depth?
Q: Have we regularly had world class match winning players?

The answer to the above questions is YES.

I think, it's down to money - it's as simple as that. Chelsea have won the title for the last 2 years and it's no coincidence that they've been the biggest spenders, likewise with Man Utd whilst they were dominating the 90's. Blackburn won it one year - they were the biggest spenders at the time. Arsenal have won a few titles and have also been big spenders.

Conclusion: Give or take a few exceptions (ahem, newcastle!), it seems that the more money you spend, the higher up you will finish. Is it really going to be the case that we must wait for a lucrative board takeover before we can expect to win the Premiership? I think so...

We've spent more than enough money.

Houllier had over 120m to spend, Rafa has had over 70m to spend to far....

Wenger's won titles with far, far less.

its not jsut money, because before Roman came along, we were always amongst the top spenders, regularly spending more than arsene Wenger and not winning the title. It all has to come down to the manager, unfortunately for Rafa, he came here at possibly the worst possible time since before shankly. GH has us in a right state when Rafa came in.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

      * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

you could be right. the french chap spent an absolute fortune in taking us back 5 years. Another question: can the club ever recover from his reign of "error"?

The reason we haven't won the league in so long is because we haven't had the best team in that time. Other teams have always had better players. Whether that's money or managerial judgement is the question but Wenger is a good example of someone winning it on less money.

well we have to acknowledge that wenger is exceptional when it comes to finding young cheap talent, and that one of his biggest quality...

not many have done the same with simular resources...

rafas strengths lie elswhere. rafa one the champleague at first try at liverpool with his tactical knowledge, wenger has been trying for 8 years, and reached the final last year.

I hope to be proved wrong. In cups he's good enough. He doesn't know enough about the English League to do well in the Prem

So he'll learn, how many times must I remind people of the length of time it took the great slur Alex to win the league. People want instant success these days, I don't know where people got the idea from that we'd win the league this season anyway. I always said second this season, but it looks like fourth is the target for now. I think this season is going to be a blip, and I really some investment coming our way very soon. It needs to be in place for Rafa to buy in the summer. Get that, and we'll be sorted.

Exactyl, ferguson was game away from the sack. Rafa will get it right.

He's had more than enough time to launch a title challenge.

                            We've finished 5th, 3rd and probably 4th this season.

No where near good enough for the money he's spent.

he is human and made mistakes, the problem with the money is that he is always being forced to compromise. He wanted Alves and got Pennant. If he had the money would have bought Kuyt sooner. and again Aurelio and Zenden on free....if we had real money doubt either of these would have been bought
