I agree that maybe we need someone who can add a goal or two, but at his best Lucas is one of the best at breaking up play.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostBoth ideally, but I was referring to Lucas. Someone who can boss the middle physically and also contribute with a goal or two would improve us significantly.
It's a shame we missed out on Sissoko, Newcastle really got a bargain there. The times they are a changin'.

Fazio is available on a free transfer.
We don't really need Allen as long as Gerrard play in the playmaker position. Allen is a good player but to play him out of position like Rodgers do is just plain stupid and not fair to the player.
It is the same mistake Kenny did with a few players.
I would sell Allen in the summer.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

Although I don't think Rodgers will sell him tbh, he'll excuse him because of his age, stress with the baby and his shoulder injury. I honestly believe he'll still be here next season. Shelvey out on loan is a must but I just hope he doesn't get rid of Henderson to keep Allen.Vive la France

This year was about stabilising and improving, I think we've done that on the whole. The result at the weekend wasnt good but we're still inconsistent and need more recruits, certainly in defence.
Our aim should be finishing 6th and anything else is a bonus, a strong finish will give us something to build on for next season.

There is one major difference between this 'rebuild' and previous ones IMO. Previously we would start with getting the team organised and very difficult to beat, concentrating more on the defensive side of the game, but under BR we have gone the other way and he has concentrated far more on the attacking third. Thus we are a bit easy to get at.
I suppose it is about finding the balance and maybe he thought bringing in Joe Allen would make us harder to penetrate. Epic Fail. It is a real shame that he spent £15m on him and £11m on Borini when he could have brought in a far more accomplished players for smaller fees, but I can understand a new Manager want sto go with what he knows."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." I'm not sure you can say they were epic fails yet - Borini has been out for most of the season with two pretty bad injuries and Allen prior to the shoulder injury was playing well for us.

Yes I know I am being very harsh on him, more so than I ever was with Lucas but he just has the Dossena about him for me and I have written him off. Sorry. Just too much improvement needed in almost every aspect of his game and for the money he is probably on, well it is a huge waste of money all round."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." I would imagine he did not focus on the defense because previously it was not an issue, the issue when he took the job was that we had one of the worst goal scoring rates in the league. Then all of a sudden the situation reversed and all our defenders forgot how to defend as well as they had been.Originally posted by Tee View PostThere is one major difference between this 'rebuild' and previous ones IMO. Allen was brought in to keep the ball and like Borini act as a change agent in helping to implement his style, it was also beneficial that he could fill in for Lucas during injury. Allen keeps the ball well and actually has a decent acceleration and close control, physicality was not an issue imo until he injured the shoulder which would affect you mentally as well as physically, especially as Rodgers probably told him he absolutely needed him to keep playing due to lack of squad depth.
As for Southampton it's far too simple to say if Lucas started we'd have been grand because the fact is loads of ppl thought the return of Lucas would spur us on to a top 4 challenge and it didn't, understandably he isn't yet back at the pre injury level of form on a consistent basis. I think one of the midfield 3 needs to be pacey and energetic and ATM Henderson is the best fit, somebody like tiote/ sissoko would benefit us.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!
